Bengals re-sign Mike Gesicki
#61
Great news. That is reasonable. And though we still need upgraded at TE in my view (in-line), at least WR3-4 is OK with Gesicki back & hopefully another level up from Yoshi.

Word is also that Tee is on a private flight to Cincy today.

And Trey is still saying there is no place he'd rather be.

But Chase & Trey are both under contract this year. Not a danger to leave in FA.

Some aren't going to like this, but I hope that BJ Hill is the next re-signing. Those young guys need a leader to get them through their development phase, BJ Hill is the perfect example of "no plays off", he goes 100% every down.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Lets hope in the years to come he makes up for it Wink

And what blunder was that?

I don't remember him doing anything egregious.

As per PFF Wink

Sample is an excellent blocker, eye test doesn't lie :)

that's great! But why did he we re-sign Hudson, wasn't he benched for the year for losing the Patriots game? lol

Not for the year, but I think it was more of a, "acclimatize Gesicki into the offense," stage than him getting benched: it took Gesicki 2 games or so to get up to speed and at that point, All was becoming more involved and thus Hudson was the last guy on the DC that dressed for games.

I am not against us signing BJ since we cut Rankins. I just hope it is a reasonable deal. The young guys were much better by the end of the year. Was it BJ or was it coaching? Montgomery needs to help team decide if he is a needed asset this year.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

Because of what Truck101 said, and the fact that he also played 70% of special teams plays last year. Like him or hate him, TH has made himself a small part of the team.

Teams need depth behind starters.  He wasn't benched for the year and also played a fair amount of special teams last year.  Teams need those players as well. He made less than 1.5 million last year.  I imagine he is getting paid close to that again this year.  So in summary he provides depth and special teams play for a very cheap salary.

Sign a top 15 to 20 OG and they all get open more often.

I was lunching with a former college coach with direct access to the Bengals and very familiar this week. As others have also said a much better run game would benefit the passing game as well. He dead pans me a little on it but I’m not backing off. We don’t give defenses a lick of fear about our run game.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Sarcasm? It's only the 1 thing that anyone remembers from Mike G last season.

You people are mixing up Hudson and Gesicki.

Thanks Luvnit. You caught me, I must of looked at the 12 mil for this year and got confused. It actually comes down to right where I thought
he should of been, about 8.5 per year...

Perfecto. I am thrilled now.... Wink

Yep, it was Hudson, not Gesicki, that dropped the ball on the way into the endzone on opening day.

Joe Burrow wanted a deal done to keep Mike Gesicki — and if it makes Joe happy that’s good.

Hopefully Joe is for the trenches on both sides and this gets addressed in FA. This is my only concern right now. We need a
couple Guards and a couple DL. Give me Becton and Fries on O and Allen and Sweat on Defense and we ALL should be happy.

For those talking about Chase, Higgins and Trey being the priority. In the macro sense, that is correct. In the micro sense… they are not hitting FA next week.

I’m just surprised they figured this out concurrently to the other, larger items.

People forget he’s the son of a defensive coach. Joe knows how important defense is. He just mostly talks about “his” guys when asked about this stuff.
