While this blows and the Browns did **** up, like always, I just think this means Tee is for sure gone and we bring in a vet for a hell of a lot less.
The only problem is that we most likely won't get the return we want since teams know that we need to unload him. Our best hope is that they get in bidding wars with each other.
Let's hope that, while making it more expensive for us, this simplifies things by giving us the floor for what needs to be done and we just give Chase 41 per year.

Trey is definitely gone. They might not even sign Chase now either, remember Tobin saying he sold be the highest paid non-QB? LOL
Remember, Garrett asked to be traded earlier this year as well.
But the Bengals FO is borderline incompetent. The longer you wait, the more expensive it gets. Last year to this. Before the Crosby/Garrett deals to after.
Plus, if you were a FA, would you be more or less likely to come here with Tee, Chase, & Trey all up in the air?

I am 100% with you. Same deal. If they blow it this year & cannot get deals done with Trey, Tee,,& Chase, then I am out.

Also, Myles is (still) a doosh. I mean get paid but don’t play this whole media game about wanting to win/not about $ then do this. It was always about the money and that’s fine just don’t say that it’s not.
Money talks, BS walks. This also could be seen to increase Trey’s trade value making a first or second plus picks package more realistic. Hopefully, the impact on Chase is minimal, however, like last year, he will probably want to wait and see what others get.

What if Hendrickson and tee are not part of the team, but they win a Super Bowl?

This is a kamikaze contract by the Browns. Have no realistic shot at winning, so take down others as you are going down.
NFL did not follow the fully guaranteed Watson contract debacle, no matter how much Lamar Jackson whined. I don't think Steelers or Bengals should follow this garbage either.
The way I am feeling right now, if Chase wants more because of this, I say we tag him - three years in a row.

This was a good move by them locking up Garrett.
But they could have kept Baker Mayfied (Bengal killer) for cheap and not paid a worse QB more than any other QB in the league at the time.
It'll take awhile to rebound from that mistake.

IDK if it was a good move or not. There comes a time that a franchise should just reset. IMO the smart move would have been to trade Myles and get draft picks/cap relief.

Yeah I actually agree because their defense is getting older, and they have so much dead money in Watson that it's hard to believe they'll be able to field a Super Bowl contender.
I would have sold all their top players for a ton of draft capitol and hit reset myself. Get ahead of it. They aren't winning a super bowl with their core unless they find Tom Brady in the draft somehow (highly unlikely).

So all the talk of signing Trey, Tee and Chase to LTC’s ends with a whisper, a franchise player who will have his pleas ignored and the team continues to devolve.
No. Not accepting it. They’ve bungled everything they’ve done in the last 2 years. These guys should already be signed and we should be thinking of how they’ll improve the team in FA.
No más. If they **** this up, I’m done. Tired of the idea that the fans deserve better. We don’t. This is stockholm syndrome.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

Unfortunately, living in Greater Cinci all my life and (now) with season tickets, and all my friends being die-hard fans, I can't force myself to roll away from the team.
I'll still hold out hope that we pull out a miracle and at least get Chase signed and get value back from trading the other two.
Positive vibes only.

Trey has some big cards. He can do a hold-in like Chase did all preseason last year and have the team wondering if he will even play when the regular season rolls around. He can hold out for a number of games until he has to play to get credit for a season so he can be a free-agent next year.
Furthermore, if Trey finds a terrific, mega-bucks deal for himself but so-so as a Bengals trade partner, the Bengals FO will tick off all the other players if they don't make the trade and instead force Trey to play for half of what he could have gotten if they made the trade.

I don't know that this proves they're incompetent. I think they just won't pay top dollar. They set a figure and won't exceed it. Most franchises don't operate that way.
The interesting thing is that if you won't give latge extensions once guys hit 30, then there should be more urgency.
Let's face it, if they were nailing draft picks...this wouldn't matter. Murphy was likely drafted with an eye on replacing Treys production. He just had 0 sacks last year. Drafting or developing guys is where they're failing.

The biggest card he has is without Tee and Chase extended, they won't franchise him.

How is Trey definitely gone again? A team is going to have to give us a late 1st round pick and pay him 35+ million per year for him to be gone...
This honestly doesn't really affect Ja'Marr's contract either. 4 years for 160 million dollars is still more than Myles Garrett's 123 million by 37 mil more.

Well Cleveland's not that far away and they seem to spend in the manner you prefer.
We don't even know if Chase wants to sign yet. Remember last year when he said he wanted to wait until Jefferson signed so he could be the highest paid WR? Tobin asserted we're going to make him the highest paid non-QB this off-season, if you were Chase wouldn't you want to see how high the bar goes?
If I were him I'd be interested to see where the 2nd most talented player in his draft (Micah Parsons) sets the bar

The 123 million, Nate, is Garrett's guaranteed money, not his overall contract, which is supposedly for 40 million/year for 4 years.

They were $22M over the cap and restructured Watson's deal to gain $36M of cap space. The net is about $13M under the cap now.
I assume they will kick the can down the road with Garret's contract and keep being Browns.
This is a bad move for them and the rest of the league - especially us with Trey and Steelers with Watt.
No telling how much this will escalate Tackle salaries.
