THE DRAFT
#1
One..I am amazed at the amount of passion by all participating..You guys are great..But the amount of negativity regarding picks is somewhat confusing.
This team..aside from injuries to Burrow and a dozen and one half other players the past two years would once again have been in super Bowl consideration.

.We have a very good team and now ..organization.. Yet...I think so many of us have ..over the years been accustomed to such poor results, we  relied heavily on us drafting "BIG NAME" players in the draft.. At the same time the very successful teams just drafted some players  to fill certain needs and continued to move forward.

This team needed some oomph on the DL..they got a player that has really good potential..This team needed to add that same oomph @ linebacker..ditto..this team needed a solid player @ guard..we drafted such...All three will add to completion for positions which is a good thing

And ..again. aside from the top 12-15 players in the draft..the talent and skill level of all the remaining players is not remarkably different

And finally..to attach a grade to players that were drafted the past 2 days is ridiculous..Some of these lessor known players may prove to be superstars in the NFL and some of the big names will be busts..or medicore

Bengals did ok..And..let us not forget..when final cuts are made this summer there will be a plethora of really good players available..

Just my thoughts

Well said. I get fans want the Bengals to stick to the concensus big board, but they and every team have their own board. Then fans want to say with certainty Knight would have been there in round 3 or 4. He was rated the 3rd to 5th best LB in the class, no way he gets to 4 and Martin was taken at 75 prior to our pick 81 so likely we would have missed Golden's LB if we rolled the dice.

For the first time..I heard the name Stewart when we drafted him..I then proceeded to watch videos of his for over an hour..Hloy cow ..this man is fast, disruptive and time and time again almost sacked the QB.. within inches..the QB was running for his life..He is going to a a great deal of fun and he does add some oomph..Fairchild seems to be solid as does that linebacker we chose.. If this team stays healthy..watch out...seriously...But you know the really cool thing Luvnit..the NFL is the Big Show and we in Cincinnati get to be a part of it..Really cool

the team was terrible in 2024, dude. Burrow and Chase carried the entire roster

Frank..this team the first half of the season stunk ..Burrow was not a 100% and we had injuries all over the board that you conveniently fail to mention..plus we were starting rookies because of such both offensively and defensively..This team was playing much better the second half of the season..But I see the glass half full you see the glass half empty..no big deal..what's that old saying ..we can agree to disagree

I disagree. The poor grammar and semantics, along with improper punctuation, make his post hard to follow.

Add we have a great future HOF QB many take for granted. He is worth the price of admission to watch live at PBS, it is rare to be able to see a HOF player play live in person.

I also agree I love the passion of our fan base, just wish we can focus on 2025 and leave any past failures behind.

I may be the worst poster in this forum for grammar and punctuation. So he gets an A+ from me.  Wink

that would be impossible, they would have to block catch and run with just two of them...

Yeah they were not a terrible team. Sure the D was poor and Burrow/Chase were awesome but they finished 9-8 which is not terrible and can’t be done by just 2 players.
He also failed to mention that they had the NFL leader in sacks so at least include him if you are going to exaggerate and say they only had a few great players and everyone else sucked.

That's what I mentioned when I saw anyone criticizing the pick based off of lack of sack numbers because, a lot of times, just getting pressure on the quarterback is better than actually sacking him because it forces a bad throw and/or a throw before the receiver's ready, which causes incompletions and interceptions.

I also keep saying that about good players being cut and we're actually a pretty good team for a player to want to come get a championship playing for.

they finished 9-8 with one of the best QB and WR seasons in history. Oh, and Trey Hendrickson was the best pass rusher in the league.

9-8, I repeat, 9-8. That is pathetic. The roster is TRASH

Wouldn't it be more fair to claim the defense is trash? Imho the offense did its part and it was not just Burrow and Chase plus a bunch of trash players.

the defense was horrific, the offensive guards were also horrific. The receivers outside of higgins and chase were bad. Yes, yoshi could not fill the wr2 role when higgins was out. Burton? dont get me started. Erick All was nice while he was healthy, but the players behind him like sample and tanner hudson? Lol. Evan mcpherson has been on a sharp decline since his rookie year. Very bad year from him. It was all embarassing.

take the blinders off. This team was carried by Chase, Trey, Burrow, and Higgins when he was healthy

Oh I so want to get you started on Burton... but really, that overall judgment doesn't seem fair. Every team has their Burtons. But this offense scored a lot of points almost any game and so calling them trash does not seem plausible to me. Even though, sure, the Bengals relied on their superstars more than on other players, as does every other team.

And your list seems a tad too short. With some distance to the superstars, I would sure add Chase Brown and Gesicki on offense as being not so trash. Defense, I'm not argueing, singular acceptable role players like Hill or Wilson aside.

I wouldn’t say the roster was trash. Any roster with top end players isn’t trash. I would agree they were trash at some spots like G and a lot of the back up spots.

You are down on this team but don’t you think they should be better this year? The G play should be better without Cappa and hopefully Volson is not a starter. The young CBs all seemed to get hurt last year so if they are healthy that area should be much improved, too. They signed Slaton so the run D should be better now that they have a legitimate run stopper inside. TE depth is not good but Gesicki is a quality starter.

I think they can easily add 2 more wins this year and that puts them in the playoffs.

these pep rally fans truly believe that roster wasnt trash last year. Of course I can point out and say "hey gesicki was alright. Chase brown was good." That doesnt mean the roster still wasnt/isnt bad

anyways, God bless
