Deion Sanders defends Burfict hit on Brown

I really don't know how PIT fans can go around with a straight face claiming the Vontaze or Jones are thugs, when they repeatedly claimed Porter and Harrison weren't.

It's starting to blowback already. Deion was the start. ESPN is starting to pick it up too, and the CBS Sports Boston as well. It may take a while to reach a critical mass but it looks like it is heading there.

I can see that Burfict could have been playing to put a hit into Brown's chest/gut to ensure Brown doesn't catch the ball or at least not allow him to advance beyond the spot of the hit. I actually thought that when the play happened, and the fact that others (especially someone like Sanders) think that too means I might not be completely crazy.
There was no way Burfict had enough time to avoid a hit. I don't think he was aiming at Brown's head. Brown put his head at risk when he lowered it before the hit which is the problem I have with the penalty call. I almost think they need to do what they do in college which is go to replay if there is any question about a head shot or leading with helmet.

The more I watch the Burfict hit on Brown, the more I start to think Pacman might be on to something.

If Brown was really knocked out, he would've stiffened - instead he flailed about like a wacky air powered crazy armed man. He did a damn good job selling it to the idiotic; I'll give him that.

And yes, it was still an illegal hit. Brought on by Brown ducking his head into it, but still illegal.

With that said, if Burfict was trying to do that, trying to wrap-up tackle rather than a hit to the chest/gut probably would have been a smarter way to stop Brown and reduce the chance for any unnecessary roughness call.

Your thoughts?

Looks like even one of the Steelers' own, James Harrison, defends Burfict's hit too.

Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

the goal was to dislodge the ball if caught not make a tackle at the field goal needed line

On NFL.com, one of their writers is claiming Brown has "brain damage". I've seen nothing on this anywhere else:

Quote:Pacman: I'll apologize to Antonio Brown if he sits out

Adam "Pacman" Jones is ready to apologize to Antonio Brown ... possibly.

Jones, who seems to be taking part in a social experiment to determine how quickly one can wipe away years of goodwill accumulation, said on Showtime's Inside The NFL that he will issue an apology to Brown if the Steelers wide receiver does not play in this weekend's Divisional-Round matchup against the Broncos.

Brown suffered a concussion on an illegal hit by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict late in the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh's stunning 18-16 win. Jones -- who drew a back-breaking personal foul moments after Brown was injured -- said Monday he believed Brown had faked his injury to draw the flag.

"I will (apologize) if he don't play," Jones told Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall in an interview that will air Tuesday night. "But you know and I know that when Saturday gets here all that is going out the window. ... When Saturday gets here, he will be cleared Friday -- I promise you -- 24 hours before the game."
The game will actually be played Sunday, and that's not the only thing Jones has wrong. Medical professionals diagnosed Brown with a brain injury caused by the head-hunting ways that led to Burfict's three-game suspension.
Adam Jones needs to collect his wife and family and go to an island for 7-to-10 days. I cannot stress enough how beneficial disappearing can be to the 32-year-old's career.

I have found no other news source that supports this claim.

This is sanctioned trolling and an outright lie just to stir up hate.

I don't doubt that Brown has brain damage. But blaming a pre-existing condition on a recent hit is a blatant lie.
