Three defensive "starters" who cause me great concern

DE should be a strength if they sign Tre and have Stewart on the other side.
Without Tre they are average at best.

Corners are unproven and make me nervous as well.

If I were to pick one area that needs to improve the most this year it is the interior Dline.
They need to show up or it'll be a long year of getting run over on defense.

It's pretty easy to call out everyone on this defense.
It's night and day watching our offense play against a decent defense every week and having to work for everything, and watching our defense get gashed for 5+ yards per play against literally anyone we play against.

The Dline gets pushed around like a tackling dummy, leaving huge holes for the running back.

Trey doesn’t help against the run. He usually tries to run around the TE, creating a hole where he left.

I get it - preseason. Guys aren't going out there earholing players. But that deosn't mean you have to just phone it in.

Didnt seem like Washington was holding back when they hit Burrow several times.  Their defense didnt even mind throwing in an illegal horse collar tackle to boot.

Any team that has legit Super Bowl aspirations will be targeting Joe any chance they get.

They're not even close to average. I'd venture to say there's not another team in the league going into this season with as few sacks by their DE's combined than Cincinnati IF Trey continues his holdout. If they were even average I'd feel better about the entire situation.

Right, they are a long ways from average.

I said average 'at best'.

But no sense arguing over how bad the defense is.

It's bad.

Taking bad angles to runners, it looked to me like he was totally lost on what to do more often than not. If he truly is the starter umm....

2. Demetrius Knight Jr. - He looked totally overwhelmed on a regular basis, got washed out on run plays way to easily, just seemed to lack any killer instinct. Very disappointed in his play.

3. Joesph Ossai - Again looked overwhelmed, got steamrolled way too often, and again just looked unsure and overwhelmed.

I totally get it's a preseason game. But those guys just very much seemed to have the deer in the headlights look right from the jump. What wrong with Burks as the starter at LB, put Anderson in at Safety.

And needless to say we need Trey!! I saw a post on social media this morning from M. Strahan, I believe - Bengals pass rush without Trey 32nd in the league. Bengals pass rush with Trey 12th.

Our 1st team defense needs a big kick in the ass and fast.

Logan too has been bad and I don't get it. These guys are veterans, hope Golden and the rest of the coaches get on all these guys big time
and have them ready to go by the opener. That was pathetic with Battle not laying out Jaden Daniels. You have to make QB's pay when they
do that like Marco Wilson did to Hartman later in the game. Battle is normally really physical and likes to hit. Just strange.

The play to Deebo was a surprise in the preseason so I can see that happening, but the big run for the TD was terrible by the Defense as
well. I am not panicking yet but it is concerning what we have seen of the starters on Defense this preseason.
