Bengals to host Dalton Risner on a FA visit
Wonder if there will be any serviceable guards getting cut before teams get down to the final 53.

I know it's the Bengals, but I'm surprised they let him leave town. The need is overwhelmingly apparent. The starter is bad and the depth is getting shallow.

No quality guards will get cut. Not sure what will happen with Risner but the Bengals should be desperate.

One of the teams mentioned where Dalton will visit is Pitt. They've been trying Andrus Peat at OT, and it's not working out. Perhaps, there's something there at RG if cut. Liam Eichenberg is another I've mentioned. Both were high draft choices. But unless there's a surprise cut, I can't see much out there/

I guess the question becomes whether or no a less-than-qualtiy guard is still a better option than what we have in house.

That probably is the question and there may be someone that is an upgrade. I just can't understand the Bengals. I guess Patrick did play better but he also got banged up whatever that means. Then you have Risner who on paper is a clear upgrade in pass pro and he played last year for 2.41 mil. what's he asking that you couldn't agree on 3mil? I mean we are desperate or should be and the season is about to start. We may only see a championship if they sell the team.

So many assumptions and all of your point to FO being at fault. Did you think maybe Bengals did offer him 3 million and he will use that to try and get 3.5 or 4 million. Dude is a gun for hire and only motivatoris money. He wants a bidding war and if him I would also.

Just one more possibility of maybr not our FO ineptness.

On to 2025, let's save the drama for the off season.

Okay if they offered him 3mil and he said 4mil I'd say done deal. We dont know the numbers but we know he played for 2.41 million last year. Perhaps hes jumped those numbers way up and the Bengals are in the right to wait. I don't give them the benefit of doubt because we have stories that come out like Zeitler saying the Bengals had interest in signing him a couple years ago and gave him an embarrassingly low offer. Time will tell what his range is and hopefully its with the Bengals.

I would've and still will give the Bengals credit if they sign him or another player of equal talent. But its frustrating that they can't get a deal done quickly when it should be a slam dunk easy signing.

And all this because we didn't sign an FA OG who no one else has seemed interested in. I applaud them for recognizing the problem and looking for answers. My hope is they watched Rivers last night and thought, we really don't need him that bad. But at a minmum they've shown interest in doing something.

horrible line of thinking. If you had a child that kept messing up, would you just continue to cheer the kid on? Go get em next time, champ! Try not to drink and drive for the 5th time this week! I support you!

that would be awful parenting. Being a blind homer is being a bad fan. But God bless, do what you want

I find it funny some of our fans were asking what's wrong with Risner because he is still a free agent this late into free agency but then freak out and want him signed now that 3 teams are talking to him.

You assert I have a terrible line of thinking and then compare being a fan of a sports team to properly rearing your children?

I'll work on being a "better fan". THE BENGALS ARE AN EMBARRASMENT!!! How am I doing?

rearing children? might want to re-read that.

of course being a fan of a team is nowhere near the level of raising kids and being a parent, but the point remains. You love the bengals. Dont you want a little better for them?

Or you toxic positivity fans can just keep enabling Mike and the family. Doesnt matter to me

This FO would rather win negotiations with players than win a superbowl.

The negotiations ARE their superbowl…
Go Benton Panthers!!

The over reactions are wild. Sounds more like Risner doing due diligence. That said, I think it gets done. There is need, familiarity, playoff aspirations.

You could have offered him $10,000,000 and he might say “great, thanks” I’ll be in touch.

Well I think its more people try to excuse everything the FO does even when it doesnt make sense. We needed to do more at guard this offseason and we literally find problems with every guard we don't sign. People said the same thing about Will Hernandez after he reported he was healthy until he signed a week later back with the Cardinals. So people say "Why isn't Risner signed yet with any other team" okay true its a question and he does generally sign late.

But we are past the worries he appears to be cheaper and plays well in the area we need most. So when the Bengals bring him in people get excited myself included that think the Bengals see the issue that anyone being honest can see and are going to address it. Only for them to slow play it and risk losing the player. We dont have other options and perhaps hes trying to drive the price up. What does that look like when you played last year for 2.41 million?

FFS, some of you are definitely part of the "I want it and I want it now" generation. Risner met with the Bengals and left. That doesn't mean anything. If they agree to a deal, his agent must sign off on it, and then his attorneys must review it. The same applies to the FO; the attorneys must write the contract and review it, then any disagreements over wording, guarantees, etc. must be resolved between the two sides. Things like that don't get done in 30 minutes. Relax already.

4. transitive verb

If you rear children, you take care of them until they are old enough to take care of themselves.

From Seattle fan’s reaction, they seem to think, that Risner would be signed as a depth player only. If he wants a legit chance to start, he comes to Cincinnati. The Steelers starting lg has missed most of camp with a back injury. If/when he is healthy, he will start. So again, if he wants to start he comes here

All 3 teams have legit playoff hopes up but obviously Cincinnati has the best QB.

Wow, you're right, the FO should have tackled Risner, held him down and signed a contract for him with an autopen.
