Quick question, but who is Hardison?

Besides Fred , the Bengals and Tampa bay there's not many that think he's good .

Basically an even less productive and unhealthy mid-round Ryan Whalen. Or a less productive version of Paul Dawson. Well, I can find other NFL teams who courted him during FA if you want, or you could admit that your personal fan opinion of him clouds any partiality in this case and he actually was pretty good back in 2014. Is he good now? Na, he is average but he was good at one point.

Once again, DeShawn Williams has had many more opportunities to show his ability because he's been healthy the past two years. Yet in that time, he's only been activated for four games and only amassed 2 tackles and half a sack. Meanwhile, Marcus Hardison has not had a chance to even take a single snap in the regular season because of injuries in both preseasons. Assuming health prevails for both players, I have more faith in a 4th round pick that was a projected third rounder and touted as a pass rush specialist but hasn't had a chance to play yet due to injury than I have in an undrafted PS player who came up just because of injuries and has been a healthy scratch for most games and only put up half a sack in four games played.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive. Sorry for Party Rocking!

I'm biased. I've followed him since he was a junior at Dallas County. That said, with the loss of two great long time leaders in Domata and Whit; this team needs his leadership.
Not to mention what he does for his community. His play has fallen off, but this locker room needs these kind of guys. With all of this talk of taking two DE's, he will probably come into camp jacked.

I get the joke Shady, but in all seriousness i have yet to see much from Hardison, atleast DeShawn has
shown some things on game days even if he needs to work on his balance. Right now i like him better, we will draft atleast 1 End this draft and probably another DT. Atkins and Billings are here but the rest of the DT's will be fighting for those last two spots. We should draft a bigger run stopper.

Good points but disruption is more important than stats and when we used Geno and DeShawn in the middle we were much more disruptive in the passing game than when Peko was out there or even Sims...

I don't think anyone is questioning that Williams looks to get more pressure than Peko or Sims. The debate is whether Hardison would be better. Based on his college tape and scouting report (since that's all we have to go off of), Hardison should get even more pressure than Williams. Ultimately, we'll never know until we can see both make it to the regular season.

BUT, as poor as Marvin is at making adjustments (real or imagined), how can we expect him to make good optional-choices on draft day? The players being discussed here are good examples of not-so-good choices IMO. Speaking of adjustments, CincyJungle mentioned Bellicheck's insightful defensive adjustments at half time in the SB. I have zero confidence that Marvy could have done that. Of course one has to get to the SB for that to happen...not a snowball's chance...Never Mind.

Just showing up and playing a snap would be a vast improvement for Hardison. I understand that he had a very good Senior Bowl and Combine, but the guy has been a goose egg after two years with the team.

I was really wondering if he wouldn't be our best pick at 9. Then, I heard about the interview issues at the combine. Did anyone hear any of the details about those interviews? Just curious.
Today I'm TEAM SEWELL. Tomorrow TEAM PITTS. Maybe TEAM CHASE. I can't decide, and glad I don't have to.

The fact is Grady Jarrett was a fifth round pick. No team in the league thought a lot of him. And he is just an average DT on a poor defense, so Hardison may end up being better than him anyway,

True and if we draft a good run stopping DT one of them might be gone, most likely DeShawn as they didn't use a pick on him.

Don't know about McDowell's interviews but i think sometimes these things are overinflated. Would take the guy in an instant with our 2nd pick. I think as long as we address the trenches we will be a damn tough team. Need to upgrade Center and End the most though. If we can get a good pass rusher opposite Dunlap in this draft we be good. |
