Mine's gotta be Super Troopers.
"Wooo-Weee! You boys like Mexi-co?"
But there are so many other good ones to choose from. Police Academy? The Departed? Fargo? Bad Boys? the Die Hards......the list goes on and on.
Maybe we should do a top 5 Police movies.
1. Super Troopers
2. The Departed
3. Lethal Weapon
4. Police Academy
5. The Untouchables

I'd say "The Departed" was perhaps the best quality cop movie. But then again, that one was equally (or maybe more) about the mob.
That's sort of the problem with some cop movies: where is the cut-off between when it is about the cops and when it is about the bad guys.
I'd say:
1) Serpico
2) Cop Land
3) Chinatown (more of a private detective movie, but I'll include here)
4) Dirty Harry (they are all really sort of the same movie)
5) The Untouchables
6) L.A. Confidential
7) RoboCop (the original)
I liked Die Hard and Lethal weapon, too. But they are just sort of overplayed for me at this point.

Yeah. Probably his best serious acting work outside of the original Rocky movie ( and the porno he made in the early seventies).

1-2 Bladerunner & Super Troopers. They (along with Aliens and Brotherhood of the Wolf) rotate as my favorite movies, so hard to break them out. I honestly don't consider either as cop movies, but saw others mention them.
Other than those two:
Chinatown
Surveillance
Lethal Weapon
Silence f the Lambs
Man Hunter
Reservoir Dogs
Red Dragon

I thought about Serpico... I did not think about Chinatown, Dirty Harry, LA Confidential, or RoboCop. Damn good list!

Donnie Brasco is great. Serpico, the Departed, and Training Day are some other favorites.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

I still think Heat had the best shootout of any cops/bad guys movies. If that was a topic, it would be my number one.
