Geoff says Mixon will get 15-20 carries week 1
#1
Quote:DANNY: Thank you for reading and for checking in. Just had a discussion with Mixon about how he spent 10 days at Peterson's home in Houston before he came to camp and he talked about how he's seen him as a mentor since his freshman year in Norman. So, yeah, I see where you can get that idea. And I agree with you. Mixon is the real deal. I think you have to think about him as a 15-to-20-carry-a-game guy with three to five catches. Right away. Sept. 10. Vs. Baltimore.

10 to 15 snaps for Gio as the 3rd down/pass blocking back....if it goes like that Hill is shit out of luck lol.

Except he'll get the goal line carries. Fantasy touchdown vulture.

Hill will still get goal line carries. The guy was actually really good at scoring inside the 10. It is about the only place he runs like he did as a rookie.

Agreed, Hill is good at this. Give him these and he will punch it in.

He will need beat out one of the other running backs on special teams.

Hill isn't being cut. Someone else will play special teams. The contract doesn't make sense to cut and the fact Gio is still less than a year removed from ACL surgery means he will play out the contract here.

Im not saying they are gonna cut or trade him. Im saying as the 3rd back he will have to play special teams that means he has to beat out Peerman or even Boom Williams as a speical teams player to dress on game days.

No, he doesn't have to play special teams. You can find those players in the 7th WR we keep or in other positions we go deeper in. The other thing is, does Mixon return kicks? If so that is 1 HB on teams which would meet the "usual" quota.

I would be extremely surprised if Marvin gives Mixon 15-20 carries in Game 1. Even if Mixon plays great in camp...the Bengals typically don't rely on rookies heavily.

7 WRS don't dress game day 5 do....And that position is gonna have the who is going to play special teams too. 5 WRS dress which are likely Green Lafell Boyd Ross Erickson. If Erickson is your return guy one of the other 4 will have to be kn special teams as a blocker same with whoever is the 3rd dressed RB.

Yep. That's the reality. Plus defensive line is a position where we have a lot of guys who should dress.

Maybe Hill gets traded if Gio proves to be healthy?

LenDale White 2.0
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I think it will be more around 10-15, but that's in the ballpark.

If it's anything like last year, Cincinnati averaged 65.6 offensive plays per game (11th in NFL) and 42.48% of those were run plays.
https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/plays-per-game
That equals 27.87 rush plays per game, but we'll round up to 28 for the simplicity sake.

Therefore, I predict the following...
Mixon: 10-15 (on the higher side until Gio is fully healthy)
Hill: 5-10 (on the higher side until Gio is fully healthy)
Bernard: 5-10 (closer to higher side once fully healthy)
Dalton will have no more than a few designed runs too
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

How many dress depends on who is healthy.  I am telling you right now, Jeremy Hill will be there and active on game days barring a trade.

This is Geoff Hobson talking, not a Bengals coach or player. "Have to think" is not equal to "do". Marvin Lewis will play him 5 snaps per game the first 4 games. The slowest person alive to make any adjustments.

No they dress the same amount every week. WHO dresses depends on health..They dress 3 RBs 1 plays special teams on the kick/punt and coverage teams.

If you think Jeremy Hill is going to be inactive and not dress then you are kidding yourself.

This team is going to carry Mixon, Hill, and Gio. Each will see playing time. Who gets he majority of the playing time is still to be seen.

They probably end up keeping four and dressing four with Peerman still being the special teams captain.
