ESPN NFLRank 2017 - Top 100
#1
http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/20406263/nflrank-2017-100-best-players-tom-brady-aaron-rodgers

Bengals on the list:
Green - #22
Atkins - #41 (Gerald McCoy #34 with 9.5 less sacks in same span)
That's it. No other Bengals on the list.

6 Steelers
3 Ravens
1 Brown
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

There are not 40 better players than Geno.  And AJ seems a bit low too.

Feel the same way and Dunlap should be in there somewhere...

And Burfict. But Burfict is just treated different. Still one of the top 5 Linebackers in the league when in there and fit IMHO.

Burfict is one of the best linebackers in the NFL

Dunlap is one of the best 4-3 defensive ends in the NFL

But that's about all I got for snubs

With the obvious slight of Vontaze Burfict, that's about right.

I know I am going to get some slaps and punches for this but I don't see where Geno is that great to be honest.  I just don't see it.

I guess a DT that has had nearly the most sacks of any DT in his career so far isn't that great.

Don't have the numbers but they are Hall of Fame type sack numbers for a DT. Mellow

One of the posters on here posted them awhile back, staggering. Best pass rushing DT in the game.

Better than Aaron Donald and Gerald McCoy IMHO.

But i guess you just don't see it Marlon lol

Burfict is our MVP on defense, and I think he is better than Atkins. I don't just think he is the best LB on our team, but the best in the league.

Really?

Guy WILL BE in the HOF and maybe even end up with the DT sack record, if he stays healthy.

Laughable.

Geno has 52 sacks in 6 seasons. That's an average of 8.7 per season.
Bruce Smith had 200 sacks in 18 seasons for an average of 11.1

Warren Sapp has the most career sacks strictly as a DT with 96.5 IIRC.
Sapp played 13 seasons and therefore averaged 7.42 sacks a year.
John Randle was mostly listed at DT but also played some DE, and he had 137.5 sacks, but since he wasn't a full-time DT, is he considered the all-time sack leader at DT?
EDIT - Alan Page unofficially has 173.0 sacks.

Atkins is at 52.0 sacks in seven seasons (7.42 sacks per year).
If Atkins can keep up that pace for six more seasons, he is projected to get 44.5 more sacks, which would put him also at 96.5 sacks, tying Warren Sapp, which would be guaranteed HOF.

I think he may even have a shot at the HOF with 75.0 sacks, but knowing how all Bengals besides Munoz have been snubbed by HOF so far, 75.0 sacks likely won't cut it.

Sometimes, I forget he is even on the field...  Is it just his subtle way of doing things?

Yea, sometimes, like i quoted someone else, I just don't know if it is his subtle play or what it is but he just does not seem that productive.  I mean the stats are there as you guys are pointing out but still seems a bit overrated...

Yea if there's one big difference between Geno and a guy like Warren Sapp, it's that Geno is super quiet. He doesn't showboat at all, he doesn't really do interviews (nothing worth writing about anyway). He's a silent assassin.

Sometimes if you want to be recognized, you need to be a bit of a peacock unfortunately.

Geno has played seven seasons, not six.
