Yes they did, shame they waited until it was too late.

Well, as long as they're getting paid to play football they might as well put their best foot forward..
They really tried their best to lose this one, but those darn good players and Baltimore's lack of darn good players kept it from happening..
Has anyone logged in to the ravens boards to read the tears of defeat yet?
They were really optimistic heading into this one..Seems their fans already knew what was coming.. You would think that they've never had a decent team in the past reading it..

Yeah, something screwy is going on. Dalton's last pass of the game - I've never seen him throw a strong dart like that. His passes usually float and have no speed.

Nahh.. Andy's thrown some pretty good balls over the years. That last one was a work of art..possibly my favorite Bengals play of the past few seasons..and Boyd didn't exactly make it any worse..Here it is again. https://youtu.be/TMdxpMXFR04
And again https://youtu.be/TMdxpMXFR04

"Some..."
Why not at least most of the time? When Favre was on the Falcons and got his start when they took Miller out for a few plays, I saw his first 5 and only passes for the game and it had ZIP on every throw he made. He didn't complete any of his passes, but you can see he had a strong throw and was better than Miller, who floated all his passes.
Why can't Dalton throw like that by default?

The two things that I’ll compliment this team for are not throwing in the towel these last two games and I also think that they handled the whole Anthem thing better than most teams. The GM during free agency and the coaches not playing the best players soon enough destroyed this season.

They showed much more heart in the process of eviscerating the playoff aspirations of others, than they did in pursuing their own illusions of securing a postseason berth.
The past two seasons have been rather forgettable. They are in dire need of substantive change.

it was mostly an O-line issue early......Fisher & Ced sucked.....got pushed backwards too much....
& Ross did less than Zero....ran the ball once on a reverse & fumbled.....was passed to two times.....both incompletions.....on the one pass it looked like he just stopped running....
seems to me when the Bengals lose it seems it's always an offensive problem.....can't run the ball.....A.D. get sacked & pressured too much...too many 3 & outs.....turnovers/penalties....

Maybe they didn't quit after all. Maybe, just maybe that was just a bunch of bitter fans wanting to believe they quit.

It's much easier to play for something, when you have nothing to play for.
The promise of better days ahead is dependent on what changes are made.
The bitterness of many Bengals fans is not without merit or based on unfounded justification.

Dead cat bounce. Moving along. This team still desperately needs to remove the HC and most of the staff. This year was a joke.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.

I can see why people would hope the bengals weren't actually trying to beat the Bears and Vikings.

I don't know how many on these boards know the two most important words in football. Two words used in grade school football and up. Two words coaches hammer home. NO QUIT.....So when some fans want to go 0-16 to draft first, that is the people that love the draft more than the Super Bowl. You would never ever want coaches or players trying to lose for draft day because such losers will never win. NO QUIT....From grade school on up....NO QUIT....The 1970 Bengals that started 1-6 had NO QUIT. The 2012 Bengals that started 3-5 had NO QUIT. The 2017 Bengals that started 0-2 with no touchdowns and were 5-9 had NO QUIT as they finished 7-9. ......Some fans may not think in terms of NO QUIT, but these are the two most important words in football.

They essentially ended the Bengal's season week 1 and embarrassed us at home, and the Bengals returned the favor by killing them last-second style and put them out of the playoffs.
It could only have been better if it was shitsburgh.
