Maybe this might light a fire under the team. Then again Marvin will probably bench Joe for the rest of the year

Good for him. That’s the exact sentiment many of us have felt about Marvin’s teams almost the entire time he’s been here.

Marvin will probably bench him for actually having some fire and wanting to win.

I often detected the same sentiment from Carson Palmer. Like Joe Mixon, Carson was a winner at every level of the game — until he came to Cincinnati.
Andy Dalton and AJ Green feel the same but I see them expressing frustration nonverbally. I wish Andy would say something.

I mean it IS pretty obvious that the Bengals aren't commited to winning it all. How many years does it take to see this?
The Bengals- where promising players go to see their careers fizzle out.
After their last SB where they let Montana march right down the field to win. Pretty much what they still do today.
You can always count on a depressing fall and winter football season if you follow the Bengals.

What is the difference between "playing to win" and "playing not to lose"?

Didn't Maarvin get ripped around here for being too aggressive at the end of the first half against the ravens and the end of the game against the Steelers?

I wonder for him to say this if others are grumbling too. But taking a shot at the coaching might not go over well.

Yeah, but it’s not like he’s the only one talking. So I don’t think it will effect him.

Have you ever played any casino games like craps?
Playing not to lose would be only playing the pass line.
Playing to win is throwing that money down, knowing you may lose big, but hey, you gotta go big to win big.
The key to this analogy is that much like playing against the house, the Bengals almost always lose

From what I recall, most people were happy with the aggressiveness in the Baltimore game, even if it backfired. People were happy that the team showed fight.
Nobody blamed Marv for the Steelers game. They unrighfully blamed Mixon for not kneeling at the 1, and then blamed Austin for the bad playcall at the end.
So NO, I don't think Marvin got ripped for being too aggressive in those games you mentioned Fred.

Mixon at halftime: "Coach we need to make adjustments, we gotta try to win!"
Marvin at halftime: "Oh, we will make some adjustments then Joe ... "
And then Mixons carries plummet lol

To me it sounds more like he's calling out teammates as well.
Playing a full game with winning intensity/energy and not letting off the gas.
It's not all on coaching from that quote IMO.

I also saw one of the replies of that tweet in the op of someone saying that Mixon wasn't even out out there when it was 3rd and 3 and 4th and 3. Im sure that was frustrating for him as well
But yeah on that article, to have Boyd, Ross, Gio, and Uzomah out there, Lazor drew up a play & personnel that somehow ended with a pass to Core on that 4th down. This while Mixon was on the bench.
When we played the Steelers, they drew up a play for AB on that critical play that ended in a TD. Pick or not, it worked and they knew exactly what they wanted to do. Bengals on a critical 4th down, can't draw a circle in the sand and Andy ends up throwing to Core, the last one that should have had a pass thrown to him.

Ask any child with even half a lick of sense and they will explain it to you. Ask any imbecile who can't even write his own name and he will explain it to you.

Marvin has never been ripped for being too aggressive, mainly because it's something he has literally never been. And the winning play in the Steelers game was on Austin and it was not aggressive, it was just plain stupid. Burfict even said so.

A lot of guys come from winning college programs. Probably in high school also. Losing is hard to take. It's not a bad thing he is saying.
