Tampa could be parting ways with McCoy
#1
Per NFL.com Bruce Arians is very non-committal about Gerald McCoy's future. Now this could just be him trying to light a fire under McCoy, but if he was released I think him and Geno could be a great tandem. I mean, I know the Bengals wouldn't sign him or trade for him but I think it's fun speculation.

I don't think this actually too far fetched. He isn't going to come in and line up next to Atkins except on passing downs as they both are 3 techniques, but I think as part of the rotation and as a pass rush specialist it's interesting. Because he would be cut it wouldn't impact comp picks and if he would be willing to play on a Dennard like deal it could be interesting. Taylor did just say that while he doesn't envision signing anyone else he is always watching the transaction wire, presumably for something like this.

Both of them on passing downs is a tantalizing proposition

Is rather have Suh if we’re going to bring in a high priced vet DT.

I think Suh would still command 8-10 a year where as ou could get McCoy for sub 8 I’d guess.

I was looking at the Bucs contracts and Wow they are awful. They only have 2.7 mil in cap space which is not enough to sign their draft picks. They can really only cut 2 players to make space Gerald McCoy and Lavonte David.

Looking at their contracts makes me appreciate how Cincy handles their salary cap.

Suh tanks in regular season games. He is at a point in his career where he wants to shine in games that provide him visibility.

McCoy and Geno wouldn’t fit. Suh would, but I don’t think you would want a guy who is more interested in NYSE and NASDQ, than NFL.

Suh is a 1 gap 3 technique, meaning he is the same type of player as Geno and McCoy. The problem was they tried to fit him in a scheme in LA that wasn't a fit for him.

Holy smokes. 20 million for Winston.   Hilarious Hilarious

Amazing how Licht still has a job. One winning season (didn't make the PO, either) in 5 years.

Hey, they had to be ABSOLUTELY sure he could actually afford to buy crab legs.

Further fuel to this fire. McCoy skipped the first day of voluntary work outs per NFL.com. Now, the keyword is voluntary, but maybe he didn't take too kindly to Arians comments.

McCoy has been part of my off season dream plans.

If TB would allow us to talk to him and re-work his contract for a 2-3 year deal that's good for us, i'd gladly give up a 6th, he will be cut. They can't afford him and I would want him as a part time player.

Just saw it.

He is  free agent though so could still command big bucks. If I am Suh, I am not happy right now as now McCoy who is younger may get Suh's money.

If so, Suh is available maybe for less than he was earlier today.

I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

Never happen but sure is fun to think about. Him and Geno on the field at the same time? That’d be sick

would love it but McCoy would have to settle for a lot less than the 13 mil he was set to get in tampa.

It really comes down to whether the FO wants to use the remaining cap for one more piece to impact this year or put it toward extensions. I'd guess it's the latter. They won't go all-in this year with a brand new coaching staff. It's about a few years from now.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
