I don't dispute we need a TE. I dispute taking a TE projected with a TE2 ceiling in the 2nd Round. This guy was projected as a 4th Round pick.

And there goes the only other Olineman I wanted. Way to hang onto those 40 picks. Can we get Marvin back to draft?

Spot on Philly, we are not the same old Marv Bengals anymore, we have learned.
I wanted Sample in many of my Drafts but i thought it was such a deep TE draft he would fall, but that is the draft for you...

Drew Sample is a very solid TE that can block so he is a starter man, another great pick.
Your commentary is based on what? 424 yards in four years WTF! Lost decade redeux II

You know it was a bad pick when there is absolutely zero analysis from the announcers on espn and nfl. They’re like, Uhhhhh...ok....pick number 53!

Draft magazines are to be taken with a grain of salt, but the one I bought slotted him in round 6 or 7. Gross.

Well we did need a TE.

He is about the same size as Hochenson and probably the best blocking TE in this Draft.

Sample was under utilized in college, is the best blocking TE in this class. Not quite Hochenson level in terms of skill set. The reason he is rated so low is because there is not much film on the guy.
“Not much film on the guy” is supposed to be a mitigating factor? He played at a power 5 school that made the playoff last year.
There’s no film because you can only watch “hard working high character white in-line TE blocking real hard” so many times before it gets repetitive.
They blew the pick. This was dumb.

He's not ever a receiving TE??? So how can they say he's insurance for Eifert? If well when Eifert goes down we're still screwed. Why not stay put after Risner went and take the TE from Alabama. Total shit show but hey we're gonna kill the 6th round.

Is a blocking TE really a bigger priority then getting one, just one, flipping LB who can play.
Sample caught 7 passes last year. Would have been there in the 4th or 5th round. Terrible.

I like this pick. There was no one wooing me at a great value at a position of need at that spot in any way. So we just added a TE who has a rep for being a nasty run blocker, and is a better catcher than he had opportunity for. We are thin at TE and thin at having good blockers in general. He would've probably been there later, but so will some potentialy good LBs like Ben Burr, David Long, etc.

Who cares! It is a very big reach and once again this team has no clue being run as a mom and pop organization

Well the guy has size for sure. If he can create any sort of space, he could be viable in the redzone. Just hope they didnt reach.

what a reach. 2nd RD picks need to be impact players..not role players

Pretty bad when you watch Sample's highlight reel and nothing screams 2nd round pick in it!
Highlight reels prop the hell out of players and I almost fell asleep watching it.
Even the blocking is just blah.

Eifert cannot block were crap, and I really do not expect Eifert to play a full season in the NFL. I hope he does, but I am not expecting him to remain healthy for the year. So yes, 2 TE sets will indicate the Bengals are going to pound the rock.
