Well, that horrible nomination speech needed an equally horrible title.  "He knows all the stories - pick him.....because who better to lead us forward than a kid who literally lives in the past?"

That was just one of plenty of references to LOTR.

I get that the great council wasn't that great.. but there isn't a lot of great lords/ladies left...  Most houses are probly ran by children now

A debt made at gun point... but giving him Highgarden didn't mean he had to give him any other titles. The fact that he made him either of those things would suggest the wheel isn't broken and he's a pretty inept hand.

There's a ton of great lords and ladies left. Outside of the North, most heads of houses didn't fight in any of the wars. They send a son or two. The show just didn't have time to show them.

The evil Bran stuff is interesting.

If we assume he can see the future, as implied, then was he merely complicit in Dany's massacre, or did he actually move everyone around like chess pieces to get himself on the Throne?

You want a Master of War and Master of Whispers - don't seem like tools of a peaceful reign, or at least not one that is going to end war.  Oh, and you want to get your hands on that dragon.

A couple other possibilities that, if true, kind of detract from the story.  One being the future is inevitable, so Bran just sees these things and does his best to prepare for it.  The other is that he can see and manipulate the future to his own liking, which makes everyone pawns in his game of SimCity.

We've seen him time travel and affect the past, so that would strongly imply he can tweak things and see how it impacts the future.  Not that the show hasn't strongly hinted at fate, or a lack of free will, many times but it diminishes accomplishments when there's a puppet master pulling your strings.

Maybe Bran is simply trying to balance the evil forces of magic in the world.  But engineering his way to the throne and sending Jon away, possibly recruiting an unwitting Tyrion as a co-conspirator....doesn't shout "benevolent ruler" to me.  Perhaps that's meaningless to Bran, and he's strictly "ends justifies the means" where people are pawns in his larger mission to preserve mankind.

I really wish they would have explored the origin of the white walkers more.

The whole last season seemed kind of rushed. A lot of things happened in a short period of time.

Also, the Bran character wasn't really developed. He can see the future. Hmmm...then why send a dragon in to get slaughtered by the ships with scorpions. Then miraculously in the next episode she just goes straight in and destroys them all. Plot things like that seemed like holes.

Overall, there were A LOT of good seasons.

I'm reading the books now.

George RR Martin wrote another book that explores the Targaryians from like thousands of years ago. That's supposed to be one prequel.

I've read that Arya going West likely won't be one.

The council was rushed. You have a random collection of people, half related to Bran, picking Bran? Give me a full great council of all the houses, with that witty and smart GOT writing.

Jon didn't need to go to the Wall after Greyworm left

There's no need for the Watch. Even if it's a place for the rejects, they need a purpose. There is no more purpose. You're looking at a mutiny.

Jon should have chosen to lead the freefolk as a means to ensure his parentage never compromised Bran's rule. Let the idea of Targaryen rule die with Jon. I like the idea of him leading them, just not how he was forced there.

If the North leaves, the Iron Islands and Dorne would 100% leave too

Bronn shouldn't be the lord of Highgarden, the lord paramount of the Reach, nor the Master of coin. He has no experience for any of that. He has proven himself to not be a good person or one who cares about others. It's the most populous and the now wealthiest kingdom. There are many houses with ties to the Tyrells who are rich and powerful that would lead the Reach. Bronn also has no experience with larges amounts of money and had to be explained what money lending was...

The archmaesters pick one of their own to be grand maester. Think of the pope. Someone who is only a trainee can't be grand maester, sorry Sam. It's like someone who just graduated seminary school being pope.

The finale montage was good, though.

Yeah. I doubt the Unsullied and Dothraki just peacefully pack up and leave too. They were born in war cultures...they would fight. Instead, they just get on a ship to go to an island.
