Man did William Jackson and Carl Lawson start getting some of the shine removed from them.

Jackson hurt in 3 out of 4 years now, and only 2 career INT.
Lawson dropped in the draft due to injury concerns, and keeps getting hurt, not able to hold up to an entire game of snaps.

Couple years back they were looking like bright building blocks for the next good Bengals D.

How many more players will be out by the time the Bengals play the PATS? Since the PATS don't let up I'm sure the final score in that game will be similar to what I use to be able to produce in Madden games.

I honestly thought Jackson had the skill set to be a top 5 corner in this league. He hasn't played good lately , the team will obviously pick up up his 5th year option it will be interesting to see if they extend him when the time comes. I always viewed Lawson as a good pass rush specialist versus being a building block. Lawson can't hold up versus the run I need a building block to be able to be a full time player.

IF Jackson went to the Steelers, he's likely a star now.

Maybe they haven't drafted great in the secondary of late maybe he's a better fit for there system idk. Jackson has good speed and size I remember the Pitt game a few years back when Jackson did a great job covering Antonio Brown who was arguably the best WR in the game at that point, that seems like forever ago though.

We've drafted sooo poorly in recent years.

Thank goodness Zac Attac bucked that trend by taking Sample. Actually, his entire draft card was gangbusters. Just an overwhelming success story. Makes a man feel good in the pants.

It's amazing how many injures pop up and linger on an 0-6 team.

We've definitely had bad luck with injuries the last two years and at the worse possible times as Bengals fans like the Palmer and Dalton injuries.  Big picture the way I look at the injures is even if this defense had every player healthy it would still be awful.  If Green, Ross and Williams were healthy all year we might win 4 games tops.

He was allowing only 50% of the passes to be completed in his area going into the Ravens game.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

A little more than that, but he's at 60.9% right now. 15.6 YPR and a 88.7 quarterback rating against, which isn't bad at all.

He is a good player problem is the LB suck so bad. It's more frustrating that it's been a thing since 2016.

When you take already injured/injury prone guys in the draft, they get hurt. It's not a surprise, but the Bengals keep doing it aiming for value, and hoping that they strike gold.

Lawson's NFL.com Draft Profile:
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/carl-lawson?id=2557901
Quote:After struggling to stay on the field for a couple of seasons...
Quote: He injured his left knee (ACL) in the spring, however, forcing him to take a medical redshirt. The following year he was named a team captain but again missed half of the year with a hip injury...

Ross' NFL.com Draft Profile:
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/john-ross?id=2558010

Quote:Ross was just getting started on his way to stardom in Washington when he tore his left ACL in the spring of 2015.

Quote: Has had a major injury to both knees. The long-term health of both knees will be a concern...

Also....
Cedric Ogbuehi was a 1st round pick who was already hurt.
Billy Price was a 1st round pick who was already hurt.

Then you add in Price having a 2nd round projection and being taken in the 1st. Sample having a 4th round projection and being taken in the 2nd.

They traded down and took Zeitler instead of DeCastro. (Bengals used the extra pick on Brandon Thompson, Chandler Jones was the player taken in the original pick spot.)
They traded down and took Joe Mixon instead of Dalvin Cook. (The Bengals used the extra pick on Josh Malone.)

Their drafting is just a mess. It's what happens when you have no scouts and no GM.

Maybe, but it was great not hearing AB's number called all game. Jackson did a great job.

When Marvin consistently drafted BPA, he had strengths just about everywhere. And oddly, it worked for him for awhile. But then it wasnt working anymore.
