Are you still happy
(06-17-2020, 01:47 PM)Luvnit2 Wrote: You have the hurt feelings. I have always based my happiness on winning and not effort or almost winning.

Joe needs to win games, if he does I will be happy if he throws for 20 TD's.

I have hurt feelings about what exactly?

Look, I'm not trying to be rude. But it's clear as day that because you're disappointed that Andy is gone that you're now putting completely unrealistic expectations on Joe Burrow.

You said, in order for the hype to be true, that he should easily throw for 4,000 yards and 40 TD's in 2020.  This is a ridiculous ask.  You should be able to buy in without requiring your rookie QB to throw for the most TD's in the entire league.

You then said he will be a disappointment if he does not win a playoff game in 2020.  I honestly don't even have the words to describe just how unfair this is.  You're asking a 22 year old kid to come in here and accomplish something that hasn't happened in almost THIRTY YEARS.  And this after taking over a 2-14 team.  Otherwise he's a disappointment.  How do you not see how unreasonable this is?

Does Joe need to win games to live up to his draft position?  Sure.  Does he need to turn this team into a playoff contender in year 1 to do it?  Of course not.  Joe Burrow needs more than anything to get some games under his belt and gain some experience. He needs to make some throws and show some of what made him #1 overall.  But he certainly doesn't need to throw 40 TD's and win a playoff game right away, at least for rational fans to understand that he was a wise investment.

Cut the kid some slack.  Or root for the Cowboys.  Cuz all of this aint fair.

If say, he should easily throw for 4000 yards and 40 TD's with our WR group and being a number 1 overall pick. If so he should have us the playoffs in 2020.

I am glad we drafted Joe, but I will buy the hype if and when he wins playoff games. It should start in 2020 or Joe is a disappointment in my eyes.

Considering no rookie QB has ever done such a thing, or even close I think those are crazy high expectations.

AYFKM? I would love it if what you're saying comes to pass, but c'mon man.  He's taking the reins on a 2 14 team! Any disappointment I would have with him is how he would mishandle adversity,  not tied to the team's record.

Yeah, should take some time for Burrow to gel with the team, should take time for the team to gel as well and the new players.

We replaced a lot of starters that were on that 2-14 team though.

Though have seemed on paper to make player improvements this offseason, we really wont know how much improved they will be until they play. And in regards to the coaching, we just have to hope & cross our fingers they will improve from last year, and hope Taylor isn't a Dave Shula 2.0.

So yeah, Andy had to go IMO because there really is no reason to keep him around just to help Burrow along, because there are too many "if's" on how good this team will be.

P.S. I have no idea what they saw in Finley last year, so why they are keeping him as a backup is a mystery to me unless he ate a lot of spinach and is able to throw the ball at an NFL back up level.
Maybe the plan is for Dolegala to be the backup...

Hope that is the thought. At least Dolegala has a big arm and is physically talented.

No chance for Finley with that noodle arm unless as Millhouse says it kind of magically gets stronger...

I'm thinking that Dolegala saw that 3 game shit show that we all saw last year and has taken every step possible to improve his play. If he hasn't he dumber than Johnny Football....

It is amazing how many get butt hurt over others opinions.

Life is too short fellas. I don't know any of you and could care less if you have no issue losing with Joe at QB i 2020. That is your choice. For me, win Joe win. And yes, I had same expectations for AD (to win). And said it ws time to move and happy we had chance to draft Burrow.

But no such thing as a free pass. perform and win, simple to me. I will be happy. Lose and I will get more upset every week.

No, just irritated by utter nonsense, which you have every right to spew, even if it's crap, and which I have every right to call out for what it is.  So, by all means, crap on.

We can tell. Now if you said you couldn't care less about Andy being gone nobody would believe you.

ZT and Lou play calling on offense and defense is out of Burrows hands. They could do a good job this year but that is yet to be determined . Burrow could help improve the O-line play by scrambling and not staring at the guys that get free and focus downfield. Our O-line is pretty weak still IMO I hope we pick up another guy on the O-line and a few guys step up. Way too many things are unproven and out of Burrows hands to expect him to win a playoff game and throw for 40 TD. It could happen but the stars must align and that is a big ask cause we got so many things that must improve.

You’re still saying it wrong...

Correct Usage: Either

We understand why could care less sticks in your craw: it appears to mean something rather opposed to what it purports to mean. The person who says “I could care less” is, on the face of it, stating “Yes, it would be possible for me to care less deeply about this matter than I do, and therefore I am betraying some unspecified degree of care.” But if you are the kind of person who cries out against this abomination we must warn you that people who go through life expecting informal variant idioms in English to behave logically are setting themselves up for a lifetime of hurt.

Both could and couldn’t care less are informal, and so you are unlikely to use either one in formal writing. If you have need of using it in some other context, and would like to avoid alienating some portion of your audience you should stick with couldn’t care less. And if you can’t get past some people continuing to use could care less, and the fact that there’s nothing you can do about it, you may console yourself with the notion that at least they are not saying “I could care fewer.”

Actually if he had said you could care less, then he'd be talking about you and not him.
