He may be running in 9 months. Even minor knee surgery takes a while to heal...but it's a matter of getting range of motion back, strength in leg, and getting rid of the pain. Like right now, he likely can't bend that leg at all. But, over time, that changes.
As far as the people above talking about the surgery, yeah they fix the ligaments and damage. The surgeon that did this is at the top of the game. He did that part correctly.
Now it's a matter of working on the things above. It may be 4-5 months before he has full range of motion and pain gone.
