Remember This Moment!
#1
Well this isn't Black Monday boys in Cincinnati, this is Groundhog's Day for Bengal fans!

Every year we are at this junction, the Bengal world has no hope. We just watched a train wreck of a season for the xxx time. BUT guess what? In a few months there will be the draft and FA and you will be so excited and think all of a sudden this team picked up the right pieces to have a winning season? Gosh, those few player changes have made us a contender! Yes a contender, we're gonna go 10-6 at worse. Yes, we still have Zac and the cronies at the front office but it doesnt matter those players we got changed the world!!!

Sound familiar? It should, its called the 12 step program of being a Bengals fan. right now you bottomed out and feeling worse than ever as a Bengal fan but the high is coming...this offseason you will be high as a kite like Elton John and the sky will be the limit.....

and once the season starts? Well then will be the very slow trickle of reality setting in. The high is still there and you have hope its a different Bengals team this year....it HAS to be right!!??!?! Slowly with each passing week your high slips away only to be in the same spot you are at this very moment only a year later...

but dont worry....

next years draft and FA is right around the corner....

It's 2:19 PM EST on Black Monday and Lou Anarumo is still employed by this team.
Everything in this post is my fault.

Browns were like this for a long time and are now in the playoffs. Long gone are our 5 years in the playoffs in a row that seemingly no other fans remember but us.

This team has no hope as long as we still have the same head coach, is my guess. There is nothing to get hyped up about in the off season.

Well at least this offseason we won't have to hear the usual... "You want to fire the coach? Do you want to be like the Browns, firing their coach every year?" ...because the Browns fired their terrible coach, got a decent one, and now are in the playoffs with basically the same players.

In Zac's press conference today he said they'd use the week to discuss coaching personnel. Don't hold your breath for any changes today.

That's because Lou is the idiot savant of defense and its not his fault there were so many injuries this season, just ask Mike Brown...he knows everything!!!!!!

Funny how the same guys who cried that the Bengals were failures when they made the playoffs five years in a row are hanging off the Browns nutsack for doing it once in 18 years.

Even when the Browns were still garbage I would always point out that none of the coaches or QBs they so stupidly discarded went on to do anything of note.  And Bill Bellyache doesn't count because he was fired by what ended up becoming the Ravens.  I mean 1999 on...

1999 Tim Couch (14) / Ty Detmer (2)
2000 Doug Pederson (8) / Tim Couch (7) / Spergon Wynn (1)
2001 Tim Couch (16)
2002 Tim Couch (14) / Kelly Holcomb (2)
2003 Kelly Holcomb (8) / Tim Couch (8)
2004 Jeff Garcia (10) / Luke McCown (4) / Kelly Holcomb (2)
2005 Trent Dilfer (11) / Charlie Frye (5)
2006 Charlie Frye (13) / Derek Anderson (3)
2007 Derek Anderson (15) / Charlie Frye (1)
2008 Derek Anderson (9) / Brady Quinn (3) / Ken Dorsey (3) / Bruce Gradkowski (1)
2009 Brady Quinn (9) / Derek Anderson (7)
2010 Colt McCoy (8) / Jake Delhomme (4) / Seneca Wallace (4)
2011 Colt McCoy (13) / Seneca Wallace (3)
2012 Brandon Weeden (15) / Thad Lewis (1)
2013 Jason Campbell (8) / Brandon Weeden (5) / Brian Hoyer (3)
2014 Brian Hoyer (13) / Johnny Manziel (2) / Connor Shaw (1)
2015 Josh McCown (8) / Johnny Manziel (6) / Austin Davis (2)
2016 Cody Kessler (8) / Robert Griffin III (5) / Josh McCown (3)
2017 DeShone Kizer (15) / Kevin Hogan (1)
2018 Baker Mayfield (13) / Tyrod Taylor (3)

9 Chris Palmer*
10 Butch Davis*
— Terry Robiskie
11 Romeo Crennel
12 Eric Mangini
13 Pat Shurmur
14 Rob Chudzinski*
15 Mike Pettine
16 Hue Jackson
— Gregg Williams
17 Freddie Kitchens*

Did any of these guys make the Browns eat crow for firing them?  Nothing jumps out at me.  Honorable mention for one of their lousy QBs managing to win a SB as a HC later, though.

Garcia was a Pro Bowl QB both before and after he played with the Browns.

Went from 0-16 in 2017 to 11-5 in 2020. Took 3 full seasons to get there, but they went 7-8-1 in just the year after 0-16. So they got a faster rebuild than the Bengals so far.

Heck, the Bengals went to playoffs 7 times since the last time the Browns made the playoffs, but the Browns could end up getting a playoff win before the Bengals if they can beat the Steelers (again).
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

And he won the Grey Cup for my Calgary Stampeders, but I don't think the Browns were crazy to let him go since he was a 10 year vet at that point.  He was a journeyman and he wasn't a bum but I don't think you can look back and say that letting him go was a blunder for the Browns.

But yea he was pretty good so I'll grant you that one.

0-16, still managed to win 1 more game in a 2 year span than Taylor.
