The main things holding this franchise back are a cheapskate front office and a questionable coaching staff. Mostly, it’s the nepotistic front office and threadbare player personnel department. The only thing that has changed in 30 years is the coaching staff. Only one coaching staff was successful. Homers are gonna diss McAfee but the results under Mike Brown’s reign speak for themselves. Your sig alone shows how accurate his statements are, and until the Bengals make a serious commitment to change. Tobin out, a real GM with real power in. An actual scouting department with scouts not more friends and family b.s. Coaches being held accountable and not being allowed to linger for years of futility. If the Bengals won't commit to winning, why would anyone around the league take them seriously? RE: Early Projections Have Bengals Picking Top 5 Again In Next Years Draft - pally - 05-10-2021 These much too early 2022 mocks are generally using Super Bowl odds to determine the order of their drafts. This team can be vastly improved over the last 2 seasons and still have low odds of winning the Super Bowl RE: Early Projections Have Bengals Picking Top 5 Again In Next Years Draft - TJ528 - 05-10-2021 (05-10-2021, 06:12 PM)Shouldamapads Wrote: Home Do you think Jacksonville will be worse than Cincy this year? I honestly think they have the biggest turnaround in the NFL. They have a great leader, a good young QB. I think there's a chance they have a better record than the Bengals this year. I think there coaching staff is much better than ours. Again, I said this is the most upside scenario. The games that I think they will lose, I don't think they have much of a chance. The wins I picked could go either way. This team should win the games that I gave to them, but if they lose those, I do not see them beating the teams I picked them to lose against. I think the talent is there, I just think they are a year away from 8-8 or better. I do think they can win 6 though, so take the Vegas over.lll give it a shot. This is my current projection. Baltimore Ravens- 0-1 Cleveland Browns- 0-2 Green Bay Packers- 0-3 (if Rodgers plays.. win if not) Jacksonville Jaguars 1-3 Kansas City Chiefs 1-4 Los Angeles Chargers 1-5 Minnesota Vikings 1-6 Pittsburgh Steelers 2-6 AWAY Baltimore Ravens 2-7 Chicago Bears 3-7 Cleveland Browns 3-8 Denver Broncos 4-8 Detroit Lions 4-9 Las Vegas Raiders 4-10 New York Jets 5-10 Pittsburgh Steelers 5-11 San Fran 5-12 RE: Early Projections Have Bengals Picking Top 5 Again In Next Years Draft - t3r3e3 - 05-10-2021 (05-10-2021, 06:16 PM)Murdock2420 Wrote: Your sig alone shows how accurate his statements are, and until the Bengals make a serious commitment to change. FWIW I see the current Bengals roster as a realistic 5-7 win team this year. The AFC North will be tough, and the o line still questionable. The defense should be a bit better, and will be helped if the offense can sustain some drives. If everything breaks right an 8-9 win season could happen, but 5 or 6 wins is more realistic with a 7 win cap. It’s going to take another offseason for this team to be a legitimate threat. I placed a couple bets at Hollywood Casino prior to the draft. Won money on the chase pick, and also bet the under which was sitting at 6.5 wins. I really think the team will be a 5 to 6 game winner. 6 games is a two game improvement, so Taylor shows more growth and gets to keep his job. Well, then he must have asked everyone for more money because he's still the OC in KC. RE: Early Projections Have Bengals Picking Top 5 Again In Next Years Draft - tms - 05-10-2021 If they win 5 or fewer (5-12!) you absolutely let them go and start over. They've already sucked the bag for two straight years. They should be embarking on their Burrow honeymoon right now, while he's on his rookie deal and can be supported by high-grade talent at most positions, even if it needs to be purchased. Three years of suckage is an eternity in this league. I hate to be so curt but this idea of "baby steps" is a trap. Ain't no time for that nonsense. The window of opportunity in this league is short. If management feel they have multiple years to pull themselves up from being doormats, it just proves they're not the leaders you want. Nobody's saying it'll be easy. But you don't want to become a farm team for the rest of the league. Everyone has the same goal: the Super Bowl. The most dangerous thing to do is to set the bar low and inspire a culture of complacency. I notice a lot of smirking around the Bengals, actually. That needs to stop. Failure is not success. They need to be deadly serious until they get where they're going. This here is not it. Sorry to be preaching to the choir. Super Bowl LOSER, not winner. In that Super Bowl, Goff was 19/38 (50%) for 229 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT. It's usually between all the former players talking about how cheap the franchise is or how it's run like shit. Actually the Bengals have drafted really well when picking in the Top 5. 2001 - Justin Smith 2003 - Carson Palmer 2011 - AJ Green 2020 - Joe Burrow 2021 - Ja'Marr Chase They seem to get worse the later in the 1st round they pick. Probably because they start thinking too much and also less guarantee of who will be available. That’s despite them taking Clemson’s Jackson Carman in the second round of the annual selection meeting. Cincy’s staff has been bullish about Carman post-draft but it’s clear that they have him penciled in as the long-term answer at one of the guard spots. To really commit to being a championship team would require doing things he is unwilling to do as has been shown by his record since he took over. It would be impressive if it wasn't just so damn sad. RE: Early Projections Have Bengals Picking Top 5 Again In Next Years Draft - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 05-10-2021 I am not optimistic about next season. Hope I am wrong. A good season would be: 1) Joe comes back healthy. 2) Chase is as advertised. 3) Pollack & Co deliver competent OL play. The pessimist in me would add: 1) ZT gets fired 2) Lou gets fired 3) We hire a real GM 4) We hire actual scouts RE: Early Projections Have Bengals Picking Top 5 Again In Next Years Draft - grampahol - 05-10-2021 (05-10-2021, 05:10 PM)ochocincos Wrote: Fans asked for a good offensive-minded HC, not for Taylor specifically.
