RE: 2022 FA Round-Up: Signed, Re-Signed, Lost - CJD - 03-22-2022 Fred Johnson is apparently being waived. Not sure why they announced the signing just to waive him. I guess the paperwork for that is less than canceling the tender? https://nfltraderumors.co/bengals-waiving-ot-fred-johnson/
RE: 2022 FA Round-Up: Signed, Re-Signed, Lost - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 03-22-2022 Updated after Fred Johnson release, saving us $2.4 mil against the cap. Why the sign & then release? CYA. Fred was expendable after we signed Collins but still decent insurance if we struck out in FA. He was the #4 OT pre-Collins (Jonah, Prince, Smith) and #5 now, maybe even #6 (Carman). 1. Signed, Sealed, Delivered 1. La'el Collins, RT. 3 years, $30 million (reportedly). 2. Alex Cappa, RG. 4 years, $35 mil. 2022 hit: $6.75 mil. 3. Ted Karras, C/G. 3 years, $18 mil. 2022 hit: $5 mil. 4. Hayden Hurst, TE. 1 year, $3.476 mil. 2. Re-signed 1. Jessie Bates, FS. 1 year, $12.9 mil. Franchise tag. 2. BJ Hill, DT. 3 years, $30 mil. 2022 hit: $8.33 mil. 3. Eli Apple, CB. 1 year, $4 mil (reported) 4. Josh Tupou, NT/DT. 2 years, $3 mil. 2022 hit: $1.4 mil. 5. Brandon Allen, QB. 1 year, $1.5 mil. 6. Clark Harris, LS. 1 year, $1.272mil. 2022 hit: $1.047 mil. 7. Michael Thomas, FS. 1 year, $1.035 mil. 2022: $995k. 8. Mike Thomas, WR. 1 year, $1.12 mil. $895k cap hit. 9. Jalen Davis, CB. 1 yr, $1.035 mil. 2022: $895k. 10. Joe Bachie, LB. 1 yr, $825k. 2022: $825k. 11. Trenton Irwin, WR. 12. Stanley Morgan Jr., WR. 3. Signed Elsewhere/Released 1. Trey Waynes, CB. Cut by Bengals. +$10.9 mil in cap space. 2. CJ Uzomah, TE. NY Jets. 3 years, $24 mil. 3. Trey Hopkins, C. Cut by Bengals. +$5.9 mil cap space. 4. Darius Phillips, CB. 1 year, $1.5 mil. 5. Anyone see the big splash presser interview Uzo made in NY? You'd think the team is bound for superbowl glory this season beyond any doubt.. I like the guy, but I think he'd really excel at turd polishing.. There is a possibility Fred Johnson ends up on the PS for just in case insurance.. RE: 2022 FA Round-Up: Signed, Re-Signed, Lost - Bengalion - 03-22-2022 What's the odds of the Bengals giving Tate a new contract at this point? If they do it'll be after the draft IMO.. He doesn't really have the shine guys like Tee, Boyd and especially Chase have.. He's never come close to 1000 yards and has never really broken the starting lineup except in those horrible seasons when they were the walking wounded.. Nil. We already have 7 WRs inked and will likely only carry 7. And I think we could easily draft one, or even two (slot/PR/KR upgrade from Taylor and an outside speed guy). He does not play special teams. Morgan Jr, Thomas, and Taylor all do. He cannot play in the slot (Taylor). Thomas is a better receiver. Plus, Scotty Washington switched to TE from WR on the Practice Squad, so the hybrid TE/WR role is taken. |
