People slam message board posters for being wannabe GM's, but if you ever want to know the truth about players, go to the message board of their team.

Losing KJ seemed like a shocker, and it sounds like his potential jumped off of the screen.

Sadly college doesn't turn out Fullbacks as they once did.  Not ones that can Block, Run and Catch anyway.  NFL teams either have to convert a college RB into an NFL FB, or a TE into a FB.  Heck, many college teams go empty backfield so much, it's amazing they still turn out running backs. It is the era of the running quarterback, however that is a good way to get a high priced NFL QB career injured. I hate seeing Burrow after all his injuries, getting pushed by Bengals into a rugby scrum by his team mates.  I think Burrows main job is to throw the ball, not be a fullback up the middle.  I always fear Burrow is one more injury away from being career injured like Greg Cook. I'm not a fan of always Burrow scrum on short yardage against NFL Defense Monsters.  I think Burrow is elusive in the pocket, but not a true running quarterback.  Burrows strength is The Hurry Up Offense at LSU and finding open receivers as he wears out defenses still trying to catch their breath from defensing his last pass. When Burrow is on fire passing and in a Hurry Up, that is his real strength, not running. This is why teams should fear him in a 2 minute drill.

With the passing game what it is, the trend is going away from the heavy MIKE type linebackers and replacing them with lighter speedier linebackers. A true fullback I think could wreak havoc on these passing defenses.

That is great to know for sure. I guess he was really good at Clemson too and with Hobby being here who coached Clemson's D-line KJ
could shine with us. We really needed another End with upside after the Cam Sample and Myles Murphy injuries and Gunter retiring.

The NFL adjusts in waves. Just like I think Chase being in the Slot more on Offense could be a thing of the future, a big FB that punishes
these smaller Linebackers could be a way to combat their speed.

A FB usually takes the place of an eligible receiver.  Having one that can catch the ball and be a solid blocker could be invaluable.  A guy that I really wanted us to draft in the 7th was Carson Steele from UCLA.  I think he does both well and will become a weapon.  Of course KC signed him as an UDFA and he played very good this preseason making their 53.

Oh well......

Interesting, good stuff Casear2727. I got a feeling the Chiefs are still the team to beat in the AFC. They just seem to make the right moves when they need to. And they signed Perine as well.

RE: Welcome KJ Henry - Housh - 08-31-2024

Apparently he played LE at Clemson with Murphy at RE

Clemson was pretty good so I’m surprised he made it thru waivers in a league that so desperately needs pass rushers and especially pass rushers from low picks

This guy shouldn’t have ever been able to come here but I’m not mad

RE: Welcome KJ Henry - NATI BENGALS - 08-31-2024

This sure sounds like a hell of a cut down day waiver wire pick up.

RE: Welcome KJ Henry - wanga - 08-31-2024

Seems a nice pickup.

Let's hope Henry can be our next BJ Hill who we got in a trade for Price on cutdown day I believe.

That was one our best trades ever. Hanry for nothing is sweet if he can help in a rotation at DE.

They just won back to back Superbowls, of course they're still the team to beat lol

Thanks for reminding me, as if I didn't know  that. But to hear some on this forum talk you would think the Bengals are the powerhouse of the AFC.

I truly think having one of these is the recipe for success in today's lighter, faster league. I remember an interview I saw with Mike Ditka, who said he wasn't fast enough to outrun anyone, so he would just wait till they caught up with him and knock the crap out of them. I realize A-Trains don't grow on trees, but there has to be this type player out there and could just plow through todays defenses. Remember, Alstott did this in the days of the heavy linebackers.

I'm not sure how accurate fan sites are being unbiased observers but I think it was a good pickup

Last thing I need today is seeing the Chiefs making another great move. I was for Steele in the Draft myself.

Still, bastid Chiefs. Starting to dislike them as much as the stealers. Need to beat these guys bad. Whatever

But at least the Chiefs don't have to cheat to win as much as the stealers did.

I have wondered that for a while now. Defenses are getting faster but lighter. Will it cycle back to where you can use thumpers to grind down the smaller defenses. However the rules make it attractive to throw the ball.

I think this too. You read enough comments and minus the extremes on both sides and you get a pretty good feel for what the player is.
