Hubbard has been a good player his entire time here. He's been bad this year, and playing through pain. I'm hoping he's not washed, but it may be the case. As someone else mentioned, it was his best game this year, but the bar was really low. I think they just get stuff in their head and cannot get it out. Agree RE: Kudos to Hubbard - sonofstat - 10-08-2024 Its these productive (not always flashy) guys like Hubbard that you take for granted at your peril ...you need enough of them throughout your roster to win consistently. Reminds me of Michael Johnson ....strong run stopper , had the odd decent pass rush season but was never the guy versus his bookend (Dunlap , Hendrickson) That 3rd round spot he was picked in, when we hit that consistently it makes such a difference. Over 3 straight years in 3rd round we drafted Hubbard / Pratt / Wilson. When those sort of picks turn into Zac Carter, Joseph Ossai, Tyler Shelvin then you end up where we are now RE: Kudos to Hubbard - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 10-08-2024 (10-07-2024, 09:49 PM)bfine32 Wrote: PFF had him as our 2nd highest-rated defender. But also lay off of Sam after having his best game of the season while finally looking somewhat healthy. You don't have to hack on one dude, both played well. The Lamar whiff was rough, but that dude is slippery as black ice. And never mind he's recovering from a hamstring injury, just put him on blast. The Defense as a whole had a terrible game, that isn't Hubbard's fault that is for sure. That said... HEY SAM. Remember those drills in training camp where you run through the dummies that have arms sticking out, where you're supposed to BAT THE ARM AWAY. Give that a shot now and then. ![]() RE: Kudos to Hubbard - SunsetBengal - 10-08-2024 (10-08-2024, 02:50 PM)rfaulk34 Wrote: I'm a Sam Hubbard fan. That said... This is true, one hard, downward strike to that arm likely would have jerked Jackson's torso enough to make a weak and wobbly throw at best. There are ways to combat them stiff arms. RE: Kudos to Hubbard - Bengalfan4life27c - 10-08-2024 He is a rotational piece at this point. Bengals need him to be more unfortunately at this point he isn't. I will always remember that 99 yard run in the playoffs he has a good long career don't let the end destroy the legacy. RE: Kudos to Hubbard - XenoMorph - 10-08-2024 is he back to full health? RE: Kudos to Hubbard - SunsetBengal - 10-08-2024 (10-08-2024, 04:20 PM)XenoMorph Wrote: is he back to full health? It would appear as such, the hamstring didn't look like it was nagging him any. He was the second highest graded defender in a weak and meager Bengals defensive effort. I'll be the first to admit Sam has had a poor start to the season, but he played a good game on a bad defense against BAL. No shame in LJ juking you, The dude's a 2-time league MVP because he's outstanding at doing it. RE: Kudos to Hubbard - Nicomo Cosca - 10-08-2024 “Agendas” or just not in the mood for a thread praising anyone from the 31st ranked defense after a game where they gave up 520 yards. But hey, Sam was our 2nd best defender after *checks notes* Bj Hill! RE: Kudos to Hubbard - Essex Johnson - 10-08-2024 (10-08-2024, 06:12 PM)bfine32 Wrote: It's because folks have agendas. I praise a hard nose local boy that needed a good game against divison foe and some with agendas just can't handle it.. too $%#& bad... |
