You dont even know what a RPO is, what an incredibly ignorant statement. No defense is going to fall for the run on a RPO, because they know we can’t run the ball. Until we show that we can run the ball, that play calling is worthless. RE: The interior oline has to be upgraded! - TKUHL - 10-27-2024 This was the draft to build the line from the inside out. RE: The interior oline has to be upgraded! - RunKijanaRun - 10-27-2024 Change the record. This franchise has been trying to fix this offensive line for years and it’s undeniable fact that they lack the ability to do so. The scheme the bungles run is not conducive to a good running game. Which is why Lac has such a good time expecting these guys to grind out yards when he wants to run out the clock. No more high draft picks or big $$$$ investments on OL until this group of coaches is gone. Same goes for the defensive backfield. RE: The interior oline has to be upgraded! - puddycat - 10-28-2024 Just the interior? Right now our backup OT was signed 3 days ago from Atl's practice squad. Our backup guard played LT today and our rookie backup center is also backing up guard and has 3 offensive snaps so for in his career. After this season we will have 6 OL under contract including all of the current players and a backup center. Even if we find a couple of FA willing to come here for jobs as backups, I can't see less than 2 OL draft picks. We've had high pick after high pick on the OL and we made about as big a splash in FA as any team could 3 years ago. The OL problems aren't for a lack of attention, they're for a lack of what we do with the players once they're on the roster. I'm not sure what more we could have done for the OL, in terms of drafting and FA. That entire OL needed work, wasn't a case of signing one high-end player, we needed better players across virtually the entire line. Was perhaps more of a quantity over quality job, but that entire line needed work and the team clearly went out to try and address that, which was more the point. The problem has been once the players are in the building. RE: The interior oline has to be upgraded! - SunsetBengal - 10-28-2024 Until a decision is made that the franchise is committed to presenting a fundamentally solid football team, nothing will change. Zac doesn't demand perfection in the fundamental skills of blocking and tackling. You could stock them with 5 All Pros up front and it still wouldn't make much of a difference without a demand for excellence in execution from the head coach. If this team dedicated even half of the energy they spend on route running and timing on orchestrated blocking execution, then this team would be night and day better. This ^ I am in the camp of not wanting Taylor fired but instead step away from being the actual OC so he can focus on being a proper head coach for all three phases. He steps away, bring in an actual OC with loads of experience to run the offense with a philosophy of wanting to improve the run game, and all the while the front office be willing to improve their conservative fiscal ways for better drafts and free agencies. But I believe for long term consistency of being a possible Super Bowl team every year, changes like those is needed. Otherwise if they don't make changes, those two Super Bowl run seasons will just be in the rear view mirror fading away as it will be likened to a blind squirrel find a nut. Could have fooled me. |
