Play-action works whether your run game is good or not. Defenses have to respect the threat. They have to fill those gaps. Lamar and Allen had more playaction than Burrow did but Burrow ran the most RPOs in the league. This reflects the offensive preference to shotgun usage since RPOs by default are in shotgun. I will just say that Burrow was the best player I the NFL this year. Maybe he can get the #1 spot in the NFL networks 100 top players but no MVP The real shame is that I think Chase’s triple crown won’t even get him the OPOTY as they will give I to Barkley. I disagree as he was running behind a great line. Chase was a dominant receiver with tons of YAC. As for DPOTY I think they will give it to Surtain. The crime is that you know if Garrett/Watt/Parsons had Treys stats they would easily win DPOTY. Since it’s not one of them they will give it to a CB. Unlike MVP those awards have nothing to do with team accomplishments yet i think they are going to lose out on both awards because Bengals… RE: Arguments For Burrow For MVP! - TheLeonardLeap - 01-13-2025 (01-13-2025, 01:30 AM)Clark W Griswold Wrote: MVP criteria is not really defined but in the NFL they have an established that unless you are on a team that makes the post season you have no shot. And Chase was catching passes from Joe Burrow who just earlier in your post you called "the best player (in) the NFL this year". RE: Arguments For Burrow For MVP! - CKwi88 - 01-13-2025 I'd like to think there is an argument for a Burrow MVP, and I hope at least one voter throws him a sympathy vote. But objectively, the award typically goes to the best QB of a winning team. So even if Burrow is probably the QB that elevates his team most, Lamar or Allen will get it. Technically, 9-8 is a winning record. RE: Arguments For Burrow For MVP! - Bengalitis - 01-13-2025 Maybe next season? getting to the playoffs is a requirement... also, a 10-7 team hosting a game for a 14-3 team in the NFL is just wrong... The 14-3 team had a chance in Week 18 to be 15-2 and have a bye followed by a home game. They lost, so they have to go on the road. Disagree, with the "nor should he."He led the NFL,in passing yards, touchdowns, and quarterback rating. He should be the NFL MVP.It's an individual award. Not a team award. True but, being the quarterback, his main job is to win games. It's unfair when considering how bad our defense was, but that's just the way it is. Shaq Thinks Burrow Should Win MVP! - BFritz21 - 01-24-2025 Shaq just said Burrow should win MVP! I know he's a fellow LSU Tiger, but Shaw gave his opinion that Burrow should win, and it's kind of hard to fault his logic because, if we had a decent defense or one of many bad breaks go our way and we make the playoffs, Burrow wins it easily. Quote:If former NBA legend and fellow LSU Tiger Shaquille O’Neal had it his way, it would be Burrow taking home the MVP Award. It's not a team award, so let's just hope that the voters just look at how good Burrow has been all season. Which then leads to more play action for both of those Qbs. We need to be better at running the football next season. Especially, in short yardage situation. I do agree we need to get better at running but maybe we should practice more? Burrow could hand the ball off and Brown could run for 6 yards and then pass , pass punt. The problem with this approach is that the defense gets to assume nearly every play is a pass play and they will be right most of the time. When you have the lead in the fourth quarter and you aren't evening trying to run and not completing passes you give the other team far too many offensive possessions and you wear your defense out. The only one running is Joe for his life. This is not sustainable. Yes, votes for MVP must be submitted at the conclusion of the regular season. I listen to NFL Radio on Sirius XFM quite a bit, and I was listening to a couple of guy that are have votes expressing their opinion that team wins shouldn't be a consideration for MVP, but unfortunately team success does play a role in swaying some votes. |
