If Joe doesn't make his feelings known (repeatedly and even throughout the season) I'm not sold Tee is extended. Now we know Tee would have had to be if we wanted to keep Chase, but Joe played a big part in this.

I wouldn't say it puts Joe on the "hot seat" But I believe he is at least a bit under pressure for demanding (basically) bringing Tee back. You know more or less at the expense of being able to rebuild a Porus defense.
I mean now the offense has to put up major points every game (including the first 4) of the season because the defense is going be giving up some points I'd say.
But Joe thrives under pressure so I hope it pays off.

It's completely dishonest to say they can't do this or that until we see the cap hit numbers for the next few years. No one other than the Bengals, right now, know how much money is still available and no one knows how the draft is going to play out.
It's all silly talking-head conjecture based on what other teams have done in the past with the money they had available and how they handled their cap. None of that relates to the Bengals this year.

Its not just Chase and Higgins but the Bengals also re-signed Mike Gesicki at 8.5 million per year because Burrow wanted him back. The national media will be all over Burrow this year and rightfully so. Burrow pushed and pushed the Bengals by calling them out. Now Burrow and the rest of the offense needs to get it done every single week. There are no excuses for Burrow this year. This is what he demanded. This is what he got.

Bengals made a choice to keep these "Big 3" on veteran contracts.

Didn't Chase and Higgins agent say they wouldnt sign unless both of them were signed? Wasnt Joe Burrow all over the media telling Bengals management they both need to be signed? These guys forced this.

They were desperately fearful of upsetting Burrow and learned from the Carson situation. Ignoring how Burrow applied pressure is missing a significant moment for this franchise. No excuse for not seeing how pleasing Burrow was influential.
Chase wasn't signing until Tee signed. They were a package deal and that put the FO in a tough spot. That's what the discussion on how this has changed the league is coming from as players now team up in all or no one negotiations. Bengals handed star players around the league a huge win as now they can demand / make their friends sign extensions or they won't ultimatums....
This was a significant moment for the league and there's no reason to not acknowledge it.

Offensive line has been an issue before these contracts…like for years! The defense has been flash and trash, but more trash trajectory of late. Hell, forget before the contracts, been that way before Burrow got here. Drafted Burrow and Chase because the team sucked. Not on Burrow if the team hasn’t changed. If you’re going to lose, better to do it very rich.

IF that actually was the case where Chase 100% wasn't going to sign without Higgins, that's still ownership's decision to proceed or not.
If they didn't feel comfortable, they could have let both walk out the door after their contracts expire, or trade 1/both of them.
Burrow already signed his deal so he was stuck lol.

When we didn't pay them, we were cheap when we pay them, we overpay and are stupid.
Lots of news stories pushing this same BS. No matter what the Bengals chose to do it was going to be dumb by some fan's views and news stations.

I mean, sort of I suppose, but it's not like he plays poorly one way or another. He seems to be steady regardless of the scenario, so not sure it changes things much for him.
He has two #1 WRs and a host of other weapons. A breakout young RB that can catch and run like the wind. A vet TE that is a nightmare matchup for most LBs, and two monster starting Tackles. He's probably feeling pretty damn fired up right now.
Realistically we are only one or two successful drafts away from being capable of making another run, imho. I think the young DBs are about to show their worth and growth this season. Add in a bare minimum, one more decent LB, G, and pass rusher. These players can be drafted on team friendly rookie deals.
We're making another run people. Count on it!

It’s not impossible to build a contender from here, but they will have to hit well in the draft and have good player development.

Boy wonder Zak Taylor is n the hot seat. At minimum if they don’t make the playoffs and have top 5 offense his butt needs to be thrown out of paycor stadium. It’s his baby now
