He still fell off tackles/sacks was disruptive but wild & tended to play disjointed leading to ending up on the ground. I will say on the flip side listening to interviews, it appears our DC is going to CREATE A ROLE FOR STEWART. The Ravens did a total offensive revamp around Lamar Jackson. I have never seen a defense look to revamp an entire defense or at. minimum ways to help him help us in 2025. If there is a defense in need of a reboot, it is a great offensive and poor 2024 Bengal's team. I am excited to see him. I just posted a new thread and Pete Brown eluded to moving Stewart among the defensive line to create a mismatch agaist OL from other team. To me, that is exciting to draft a stud athlete (like Lamar is) and then game plan for him and make him the long term face of our defense. If it works, it could be epic, RE: Welcome Shamar Stewart - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 05-01-2025 (05-01-2025, 02:23 PM)higgy100 Wrote: There's not a player in the draft that doesn't need control or better awareness when jumping up to this level. He was as disruptive a player as there was in college FB last year. There's always the guy in the spotlight that gets the sack, jumps on the loose ball or gets the tackle. But for damn near every time that happens there's another player that caused that disruption. Have to bump Higgy's post from the bottom of the last page. ![]() RE: Welcome Shamar Stewart - Sled21 - 05-02-2025 https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/embattled-bengals-draft-pick-predicted-to-stand-out-from-rest-of-afc-north-rookies/ar-AA1DZsBG?ocid=entnewsntp&pc=U531&cvid=5c4498dea31f4eb697f4725f722e9488&ei=12 Quote:The Cincinnati Bengals entered the 2025 NFL draft with some obvious needs on defense and offensive line. Who would you have picked instead of Stewart? Just pointing out the reality of what the Bengals were dealing with. Zabel, Harmon, Jackson, Starks, and Campbell for sure. Probably: Barron, Hairston, & Conerly & Simmons. There are 2nd round guys I'd have taken before Stewart. And not to bag on the kid. He is a 1st round prospect. No flags at all in terms of personality, work ethic, being a teammate, or his physical traits. Heck, he even played at different spots & gives us some 43/34 versatility and can play inside some. But HUGE flags on production. For me, not a first round player (not the same as prospect). And in our situation, I'd have gone with a lesser prospect but a better player. But he does have just about the highest ceiling of anyone we could have picked (maybe Emmanwori). Let's hope he gets there and sooner rather than later. And if he does, lookout. We'd be Hell on Wheels with Trey AND a productive Stewart. And that, obviously, is the appeal. Butcwe just whiffed on Murphy in this same mold. More productive. 9.59 RAS. Great teammate & work ethic. Zero sacks. Thanks for that, Sunset. We did have inside scoop from Jackson. If he is thumbs up, it makes me feel a bit better. But what else is he gonna say afterward? Hopefully what he said publicly matches what he said before (if he was asked). RE: Welcome Shamar Stewart - Clark W Griswold - 05-06-2025 ESPN spoke with some college coaches about the draft. Here is what they said about Stewart: "There's just not that many specimens at that size," an SEC offensive coordinator said. A Texas A&M source noted that Stewart, who had 13 quarterback hurries the past two seasons, would do well in a locker room filled with veteran players who demanded accountability. "He'll do whatever you tell him to do," the source said. "So he gets into a place where working and work ethic and preparation and how you play is important, then I think he'll do it." Are you really trying to sell that Burrow, Chase, Hendrickson et al have no work ethic preparation??? Compared to other teams', successful ones, players and coaching, absolutely. Burrow and Chase are solitary hard workers, they are too cool to be disciplinarian, rah rah, get the guys together types. They, especially Jamarr, have talked more about getting paid and breaking records than winning Super Bowls. |
