RE: ***Week 17 GameDay Thread - Bills @ Bengals*** - Bengalstripes9 - 01-02-2023 I think the bills should just forfeit so teams don’t have to play such a short week next week. I doubt they’ll be ready to play tomorrow? ***Week 17 GameDay Thread - Bills @ Bengals*** - bjf123 - 01-02-2023 From Twitter: As an ER doc, I can 100% tell you that after cardiac arrest, CPR and defibrillation (AED), there is no way any provider will say Damar Hamlin is ‘okay’ anytime soon. Cancel the game @NFL. Let people be together. Didn't a basketball player collapse on the court and died? Want to say Celtics, but can be wrong. With the AFCN and #1 seed still up for grabs there's just no way they call it a tie. Tie is nuts. Wont occur. There's a whole lot of money involved here and money doesn't care about feelings. If the league just cancelled the game they're probably going to be liable for millions upon millions, betting houses will be liable, fans and tickets.. Right, and they have to be weighing how likely a player strike would be if the entire world has to watch this game continue because of contracts. The announcers and the studio talkers are saying it needs to be cancelled. I can't imagine they'd be allowed to talk about things that way if the NFL were in their ear saying "We need to play this." RE: ***Week 17 GameDay Thread - Bills @ Bengals*** - Housh - 01-02-2023 Competition wise, it would be insanely unfair to the Bills players to finish the game. He tackled Tee up high, and he was squared up. Basically, he took that hit directly to his chest/heart. A person gets hit in the chest hard enough it will cause a cardiac event. Honestly, not sure if this kid is going to make it by the way he went down. Sometimes they look very innocuous but enough to do serious damage. Mike Utley. Happened during the '91 season. I was there for the Thanksgiving game but it happened a few weeks after that. Against the Rams I think. He's gone on to be a motivational speaker and create a foundation for curing spinal cord injuries. He's living his best life.
