There were tons of articles written about its impact in that very instance before the season started and no one cared. The NFL and the Refs aren’t out to get the team as much as people want to play the victim. It's easier to swallow that the league holds us down than to believe we're just terribly mismanaged. RE: Sick to my stomach - Tomkat - 12-09-2018 "If a runner (including a quarterback) gives himself up, then he is down where the first body part touches the ground." Well, then they got THAT PART wrong, too. SHOCKING. RE: Sick to my stomach - Ctfan73 - 12-09-2018 Yeah, the Driskel call was atrocious. A better team would have punched it in from a foot out on 4th down. The Bengals, of course, get a false start and settle for 3. They have no one to blame but themselves. QBs have always been spotted where they begin the slide as that is when they are granted protections. It was explained heading into the year it would be treated the same way for the five. However if the play on the field stands as called then that next play doesn’t even happen. It’s not like the call on the field was he gave himself up. Nobody gives themselves up at the goal line. Yes, but it all hinges on the player giving himself up. Who would ever do that at the frigging one? If a QB dives for a first down, what do they do in that case? Can't think of having ever seen that call in such a situation. RE: Sick to my stomach - Au165 - 12-10-2018 (12-09-2018, 11:56 PM)McC Wrote: Yes, but it all hinges on the player giving himself up. It’s assumed through the action now. A QB basically can’t dive anymore. It’s a new rule that simply hasn’t been seen much. What about when Ben dove for a TD against the Jags? No such call. RE: Sick to my stomach - McC - 12-10-2018 (12-10-2018, 12:00 AM)Au165 Wrote: It’s assumed through the action now. The ridiculousness of it is beyond all argument, flies in the face of simple human reason. In other words, pulled it out of their asses. RE: Sick to my stomach - Trademark - 12-10-2018 The refs screwed the Chargers too especially on the one pass called incomplete RE: Sick to my stomach - Jonescincy - 12-10-2018 (12-09-2018, 09:58 PM)Crazyjdawg Wrote: I was actually pretty damn happy with the loss. Holy smokes I feel really sorry for you and anyone who thinks this is possible. Hot does not equal cheap. Hot does not equal stupid. Every year is next year for this team. We’ve had some reason to be hopefully and it is usually how good we finish the year when the team misses the playoffs. Or that they at least made the playoffs, even though they were horrible at the end of the year. Next year is never going to come with the current configuration. The two people that need to have an edge are the HC and QB. We’re trying to field dress a deer with two butter knives. When the call was overturned I immediately thought of that play because if he is called down then then the Steelers lose to the Jags. The Driskel play was called a TD and he was diving to score, which video evidence clearly showed. |
