Matter of choice, really. Me, I'll be worrying about the things in life I can do something about. Oh, what a six months it will be. RE: It's official: Lou is our guy - EastCoastBengal - 02-21-2019 Don't sleep on Lou. From what I have heard about him he is a very personable guy, who continues to check in on his former players year round. While i am concerned about how the defense will turn out with him leading it next year, i am sure he will be well liked in the locker room. That is a big step in establishing a new culture, getting the players to buy in. Fans have it easy, we hear a new coach call for a change after bad seasons, and we jump on it. Players are the ones who built relationships with the old staff for years, and now have to learn a entirely new system from a staff lacking experience. Expect growth pains from the team all together. Hard to see any reason to think this will turn out well. Our defense was one of the worst in the league so let's just settle for an unproven guy that seems mediocre at best in general and hope it turns well....yikes. Eberflus in Indy was 10 years removed from calling a D (a college one at that) before last year. RE: It's official: Lou is our guy - wolfkaosaun - 02-21-2019 He's worked with Miami for quite awhile. Obviously a connection with Zac Taylor. The Dolphins pass defense while Anarumo : 2012 -27th 2013 - 16th 2014 - 6th 2015 - 21st 2016 - 15th 2017 16th 2018 - 23rd. But there's much more than just Yardage. And we all know that linebackers play a large role in pass defenses, so it's hard to pinpoint how much of a role that had in these rankings. But let's dive deeper. When it comes to QB rating against his defenses, here's where these defenses ranked. 2012 - 83.4 (13th) 2013 - 77.3 (4th) 2014 - 89.7 (16th) 2015 - 97.4 (24th) 2016 - 88.8 (T-16th) 2017 - 94.8 (28th) 2018 - 89.8 (9th) Let's now look at interceptions 2012 - 13 (T-22nd) 2013 - 19 (T-10th) 2014 - 12 (T-21st) 2015 - 13 (T-17th) 2016 - 15 (T-12th) 2017 - 21 (3rd) 2018 - 12 (T-16th) Passing touchdowns allowed (this is going by from least to most allowed, so, for instance, if they are ranked 3rd, that means they are the 3rd best and allowed the 3rd least passing TDs among the league) 2012 - 18 (6th) 2013 - 17 (T-3rd) 2014 - 27 (T-20th) 2015 - 31 (T-25th) 2016 - 30 (T-25th) 2017 - 26 (23rd) 2018 - 24 (13th) Now, those stats are obviously not SOLELY from the secondary, as linebackers are also in coverage (we've seen that first hand) RE: It's official: Lou is our guy - McC - 02-21-2019 (02-21-2019, 04:56 PM)RunKijanaRun Wrote: No one's stopping you. Good work getting the data, does not look too enticing for sure, but a variable we must consider is he was not calling the defense, rather he was a LB coach for the dolphins. Yeah Im gonna have to call out bullshit here. There might have been a few but the vast majority opinion was look how the Lions "D" has performed and it was very underwhelming. So you can play devils advocate on this thread because the new guy is unproven but this comment? BS On the other side of it Marvin the defensive mastermind hired Austin and look how that turned out. Zacs on the clock now, lets see what he can do and hope for the best! If he cant do it lets hope it doesn't take another 16 years to make changes RE: It's official: Lou is our guy - TheLeonardLeap - 02-21-2019 (02-21-2019, 04:52 PM)McC Wrote: Or ***** like schoolgirls, jump to conclusions, pretend to see the future, act like guys who weren't unquestioned home runs in the past cannot possibly do well later{AHEM...Mike Zimmer, Bill Belichick), think that fretting can influence any kind of future outcome. These are TERRIBLE examples of the point you are trying to prove. Mike Zimmer was the DC when Dallas had a #1 defense in 2003. Bill Belichick won a playoff game with the BROWNS. Not his fault the owner chose the next year to announce his team to a different city.
