At the trade deadline he had just done a workout and then got shut down again for swelling and not feeling right. Once we get past the narrative that it was all a show here and accept he was really hurt the first thing the medical personnel will do is ask him questions, and now it is clear he wasn't making it up his own answers would have red flagged it. Remember, in season you get one shot at this because essentially by the time the medical is ran the deadline is past. I just don't think teams with limited time to evaluate medicals are going to agree especially knowing the compensation would have most likely been made with the assumption he could play. That said I think a team would be more likely to pass him with more time during a FA pre signing physical where they have more time and can structure compensation to take potential injury into account. RE: AJ Green Visited a Foot Specialist Monday - J24 - 12-17-2019 Hes got the green light to start practicing by spring. RE: AJ Green Visited a Foot Specialist Monday - Circleville Guy - 12-17-2019 I don’t know much about the toe injury, I know that a turf toe injury can be career ending. His future is a question mark. I get loyalty and a good guy, fan favorite stuff but how is it a smart business move to spend 15-18 million on a big question mark? Isn’t it an obvious move to spend that money on other needed upgrades that don’t have a huge health question from the get go? You have to throw out being a fan of a player if you want to make the best business decision. If he does recover, he’s not gonna be all world over and above the production that you’re gonna get with the money being spent on another top free agent. Even if you did, it’s only gonna be for a year or 2. I love what AJ has been, he isn’t the same player and probably never will be. Hate it but move on! Cordy Glenn allegedly passed his physical then refused to play so . . . Who is the last top tier free agent the Bengals signed? RE: AJ Green Visited a Foot Specialist Monday - Nicomo Cosca - 12-17-2019 (12-17-2019, 03:08 PM)jj22 Wrote: Green is done. I can see an early retirement like his idol Calvin. His idol is Larry Fitzgerald though... And if Dalton’s money comes off as well does anyone honestly believe Mike Brown is going to go crazy in FA and spend all that? I’d rather see it go to AJ (and give Burrow a #1WR) then stay in Mike’s bank account. RE: AJ Green Visited a Foot Specialist Monday - pally - 12-17-2019 I'm not sure how he can be done when he hasn't even begun for the year
RE: AJ Green Visited a Foot Specialist Monday - Hoofhearted - 12-17-2019 He also said he would sign a franchise tag, but hinted he wouldn’t report until probably after OTAs or maybe after. Tyler Dragon just reported that the Bengals will franchise tag him if a contract extension is not reached. Yep. Burn $18 million on a guy who likely will miss a bunch of games. It's weird...we chase past performance. AJ's best production was on his rookie contract. They were high end players at their position now make a substantial percentage of the Bengals Salary cap. Edit: Forgot the last one would actually be Tyler Boyd. That's cool, I'd hate to toss Burrow into the fire without AJ Green sitting on the sideline all year. Geno Atkins, Carlos Dunlap, and Tyler Boyd were their last big signings and they are some pretty damn good football players. They are, but not signing outside FA’s means we rely solely on the draft, and that leaves considerable wholes, and a lack of depth. We’re seeing that right now. How much better would we have been this year had we brought in some decent OL, LB, WR, etc? Just look at the Bills. |
