If he wants to come back, the Raiders own him. Now, it would be nice if the Raiders let him come home to Cincinnati, but if the Bengals offered a 5th rounder, and somebody else offered a 4th rounder, who's deal do you think the Raiders are taking? Unless he has a no trade clause, which as a rookie I doubt he has, he has zero say about it. It's not hard for me to understand but I'm just looking at it logically. He might say that the only place he would play is Cincinnati, so why would any other team try to trade for him? Also, teams might be scared from trying to even trade for him, but we know he'd be good here since he'd be home. Furthermore, if he was really struggling that much at Notre Dame while being messed up mentally and was still good enough to be drafted 35th, just imagine how good he could be if he was in the right mind and comfortable with everything. No we don't. Again if the rumors are true and he is struggling being away from home, something the vast majority of NFL players deal with, then perhaps he just doesn't have the mental strength to play in the NFL. Cool, I am down with it. ![]() RE: Sign Michael Mayer! - Soonerpeace - 10-04-2024 (10-03-2024, 07:13 PM)BFritz21 Wrote: Apparently, Michael Mayer is away from the Raiders with no timetable for return due to personal issues. He sounds like a wuss to me... If his mental capacity is that of a 4 yr old, I pass! RE: Sign Michael Mayer! - BFritz21 - 10-04-2024 (10-04-2024, 04:19 PM)George Cantstandya Wrote: No we don't. Yes, we do. His abilities are still there. It's a mental thing. Being around his friends and family at the end of the day would get his mind back to football and he'd excel in his play. Maybe he really is done, but I think he'd kill it here because he'd be the hometown hero and everyone would worship him. He is much more talented as an all around TE than Hudson that is for sure. Mayer can block. Check out his rookie highlights and tell me that Burrow wouldn't love to have him as a target and that he wouldn't open things up for everyone else. RE: Sign Michael Mayer! - Sled21 - 10-05-2024 I have no problem bringing him here if that's what he wants. I just think the Raiders will ask too much. RE: Sign Michael Mayer! - QueenCity - 10-05-2024 I just don't see the need for Mayer this season. If this is an off-season deal and we are saying goodbye to Gesicki then yes lets do it. All is going to be our stud tight end for many years to come. Mayer would be the 2nd banana. This entire talk of bring in someone that still has his mommy's teets in his mouth is absolutely stupid. However knowing how Uzomah, Hurst played out I recon Gesicki will leave for a higher salary. So yes if the the above comes true i would bring in Mayer as the 2nd banana. Why would we trade for a guy that would hypothetically only play here? Just wait for him to be cut and put in a claim. I'm not opposed to giving him a look if he becomes available, but I wouldn't give up anything to see if maybe he can get it together here. . RE: Sign Michael Mayer! - Sled21 - 10-05-2024 If he came here, we might be able to trade Hudson or the rookie to a TE needy team for a DT, but SF is in need of a DT as well so I don't see it happening. Tight end is the least of our needs right now RE: Sign Michael Mayer! - 125250 - 10-05-2024 Need to get him. He’s from here and good. RE: Sign Michael Mayer! - BFritz21 - 10-05-2024 I also forgot to mention something that might have played a part in him being homesick at Notre Dame and then in Vegas" He graduated early his senior year and enrolled at Norte Dame after Christmas, so the fact that he didn't get the whole senior year experience and everything might have played a big part in that, which being home might make him better. In the Amazon, underwater, underground, and space. Just because you have a map of what the planet looks like on the surface doesn't mean you actually know what's where in detail. |
