......lol

Mike Brown is that you??

Cause 4 years with guaranteed money is better then 1 year....

Other teams do this.. tag guy to keep him off the market and then extend him but not here...

Your like Fred ready to fall down and defend this shit no matter how obviously bad it is.

"A franchise tag still leaves room for negotiation on a long-term contract. The NFL's deadline in 2021 for teams and tagged players to agree upon and sign a multi-year extension remains July 15. Over the past six years, about half of the franchise tagged players have received such deals."

Half the players signed an extension that meant they took less year one then the tag number.

I would say Hendrickson also creates pressure.. he started playing more in 2019 and not starting much of the year, he had more sacks with limited snaps than Lawson and pressures were ok.. last year he had both sacks and pressures with the amount of snaps...

I see no problem signing him especially with back issue of Lawson and Hendrickson seems to be stronger at point of attack which adds to his game

Do the math.  1 year with $18 mil guaranteed and a shot at FA the following year, 3 years with $30 mil guaranteed, or 4 years with $32 mil guaranteed.

You also realize that just because they signed long term deals, it doesn't necessarily mean those deals were for a lower APY than the FT, right? Dak's FT # was $37 mil and his extension was for $40 mil/year as an example.

The article I quoted was about players signing extensions and playing at a lower number then the FT hit.

But hey, you and Fred hold down the this team is faultless side and drink the kool-aid all day long. While the other 99% of us want the team to win.

Anyone been able to find Chidobe's contract numbers yet?

The passage you quoted says absolutely nothing about extensions with a lower APY than the FT.  It simply says they signed extensions.  You're reading what you want to read, not what they wrote.

Whatever Fred.

Not reaching.. searched for examples of players signing extensions at less then the cap. Said half did..

But... again whatever Fred, seriously just done with you.

Except that that's not what it said.  The fact that you won't post a link to the article so the passage can even be read in context is quite telling.

I think they overestimated their cap against that of the rest of the league and when it became clear they were not in the financially dominant position they thought they were they got caught in no man's land.

Yup, sounds like the Bengals.

I explained my thoughts of the "salary cap crunch" in advance and it has played out a lot like I thought it would and I am no insider. Really sad to be honest. If all the lowball offer stuff is true and what you are saying is true, they must have thought most all teams had limited liquidity so players like Zeitler were going to get 3-4M dollar offers and have to take them. I find that completely incompetent if that is the case.

Yup, sounds like the Bengals too.

Hendrickson - 26 years old
Awuzie - 25 years old (26 in May)
Hilton - 27 years old

RE: ***Official Bengals Free Agency Thread*** - Murdock2420 - 03-16-2021

At this point, I really want to see them just sign one new body for the offensive line.

Can they make a signing and just sort of acknowledge, "Hey we know the line sucks and we are going to bring in new people."

Seriously, get someone and show the fans you aren't completely clueless to the biggest weakness on the team.

Said in another thread, both of them are guys that are not afraid to tackle and seem willing to help in run support.

All the reports are they are both better in zone, so looks like a zone defense scheme exclusively.

Seriously, you need to take some time off the boards/NFL for a while.

You've been on here 24/7, constantly complaining and arguing with others; that's definitely not good for your health, man.
