RE: Next Up: Da Bears - Bengalstripes9 - 09-14-2021 The Bears Dline can get after it. They'll be a test for what was a shaky start for our pass pro. Winnable game overall. But don't sleep on the Bears defense. Dalton was moving the ball well on Sunday night too. They racked up a lot of yards. Montgomery is a beast. Their offense is similar to Minnesota, although their wideouts aren't as good, and their QB is more prone to making mistakes when pressured. Overall its a similar team and we should win if we improve on our play from week 1. But if we put out a similar performance and don't improve/get our weaknesses exposed, I could see the Bears pulling out a W at home. Need to play better. I think we can/hope we can. ZT went 2-14 with Andy Dalton. Hard to believe the divisions are that different for that to be negligible. Here is the schedule that gave them the other 10: Vikes (twice) 8-7-1 Lions (twice) 6-10 Packers (twice) 6-9-1 Cards 3-13 Bucs 5-11 Jets 4-12 Bills 6-10 49ers 4-12 Not very impressive schedule is it? And let's be honest....Nagy inherited a top 10 defense, and was able to get most of the assistants to stay. ZT inherited a steaming pile of crap and had to build a whole new coaching staff. I'd rather face Dalton, too, but not because hE sUcKs, but because we know him and his tendencies. Not so much with the rook. He had 61 against the Bengals, including one 17 yard run. So, he had 44 yards on 20 carries outside of that. Held to under 90 yards when he had 20 attempts or more. But even that is a little off as he had 21 attempts Nov 3 2019 and 71 yards. He had 5 sub 90 yard games last year all with less than 20 attempts: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CookDa01/gamelog/2020/ But the Bengals also did hold him to 3.05 yards per attempt which is very decent considering how good he is and it was his lowest Y/A since December 2019. These arguments could be held against the "impressiveness" of the 2011 Bengals, as well. At any rate, Nagy had 10 more wins than ZT...you can come up with all sorts of reasons why 2-14 is as good or better than 12-4 but I'm not seeing it. The Bears were 5-11 when Nagy took over and they went 12-4 his first year. ZT took over a 6-10 Bengals team and went 2-14. Nagy > ZT We won 1 game so far this year, let's not go overboard here. So... as many victories against playoff teams as Zac Taylor had in a total 16 game season versus all teams? Yes, by all means, belittle that. Bears before Nagy: 5-11 Bengals before Taylor: 6-10 Nagy must be really lucky he managed to luck into that 12 victory team and Coach of the Year award while Taylor had to strive for excellence for his 2 wins. ....what are we even doing here? It took Zac Taylor 2 years just to get 6 total wins, or half of the "unimpressive" 12. I guess since it's the Left Tackle that stiff is going to get a huge dose of Hendrickson. Oh man.... If they quit holding him, he may get to 13 sacks by mid season... I am not saying ZT is better than Nagy, but that Nagy might be a bit overvalued given that first year. Yes, by all means, belittle that. Nagy had a top 10 defense and a much stronger roster, in a weaker division than ZT. We will see how ZT does now that he has a roster that he wanted. Not saying he is better...this started because someone commented about how Nagy had a 12-4 season and I showed who they beat and pointed out that it is nothing like the AFC North this past two years. RE: Next Up: Da Bears - KingOfQueens - 09-14-2021 Mandy didnt have one completion for over 9 yards in the air. He is a gift to the Bengals. We should win by 14+ RE: Next Up: Da Bears - Bronze Bengal - 09-15-2021 Heres a Bears podcast team's take on the game. https://youtu.be/pG8-0fAsVy8 RE: Next Up: Da Bears - PhilHos - 09-15-2021 (09-14-2021, 04:55 PM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: It took Zac Taylor 2 years just to get 6 total wins, or half of the "unimpressive" 12. Never underestimate a player playing against their former team especially if they feel they were wronged... That being said on Paper we should be able to pull this one out if we play with the discipline we did this past sunday. RE: Next Up: Da Bears - Joelist - 09-15-2021 Nagy’s game plan was quick short passes to cover for the deficiencies on the OL. |
