Once he gets his timing down Joe will be back to Smokin' Joe again.Cigar

When the clock in his head reaches 3.5 seconds after the snap, his mind is probably like "we're usually laying in a heap on the ground at this point".

Yep, he needs to get used to having some time again. Volson, Orlando and Ted played really good in game 1 and I don't think he is used
to this. His blind side was always giving up pressure the last few years early in the season.

I think that's a part of it for sure.....

I think that's some of it for sure. Average time to throw on Sunday was 3.58 seconds .....an eternity compared to what he's used to. Makes the "it's the oline " crowd look kinda foolish.

He needs to play more preseason games. Get rid of the slow starts there.

Tua somehow looks even worse tonight.

Then he isn't an elite NFL QB like most here say he is and should have not have been paid like one. He should be ready day 1, game 1,  Q1 of the regular season to play at an elite or close to it level.  That is unless an injury is causing these problems.

Who do you thinks he’s equal to that he should have been paid the same AAV? This is the going rate for a QB on a second contract

Tua needs to retire. Four concussions in the past 5 years (counting his last college season). And bad concussions at that, with all kinds of visible symptoms, hands moving oddly, etc.

It's interesting that the NFL put all these rules in place to protect QB's and many of the marquee ones have been injured a bunch and/or appear to be declining in play before mid-career.

re: Burrow - It's going to be interesting. On talk shows, some talk about how his wrist will just be sore/stiff/lack mobility into the future. They're obviously just guessing as they don't know. But, some injuries can be like that. I sure hope not. As Bengals fans, we kind of deserve some good QB luck! Having him injured often on that contract would be catastrophic.

RE: Early Season Burrow - jj22 - 09-13-2024

We'll see if "early season" Burrow (slow start even when "healthy") is a thing, but it is still disappointing we were sold that no preseason action due to injuries were the cause of the slow start and it ended up being false. So what can we really trust? Now it's "it takes Burrow awhile to get warmed up". Seems like they've just shifted excuses.

I ain't no football expert, but I said before that I hate seeing a loss where a QB throws for 0 TDs and 0 INTs.  INTs suck, but if you lose and you threw zero of them to go with an anemic offensive performance that tells me you are playing too safe and you're just not getting it done.

Burrow's stat line of 21 of 29 for 164 yards with 0 TDs and 0 INTs is more suited to a backup QB in pre-season trying to NOT lose his job or a journeyman backup trying to ride the defense and running game to a W while the starter recovers rather than that of an ultra-safe starting QB franchise savior 1st overall pick who is trying to win a regular season game.

I don't want to see that statline again unless our defense turns into the 85 Bears and our RB turns into Barry Sanders.  Can't have Burrow playing like Trent Dilfer while getting paid like....well, Joe Burrow.

Right! If he doesn't want to, he should be forced to. The man is going to have severe CTE. His hands were doing it again last night.

He practiced, but he only played 1 drive. Looks like he needs a lot more than that.

Right, and his contract will continue to cripple the Dolphins so they won't do it. That's why I'm against all this guaranteed money BS. There ought to be an injury settlement based on some set formula with the contract, years, etc. and be done with it.

In my mind the most telling thing about that offensive debacle was when Jamarr Chase was asked why there weren't more down field targets, and his answer was "Ask Zac"...
