It will hinder them in the future but we have yet to see it and if I had to venture a guess it won't be a debilitating impact. For as massive as a contract and as massive as a miss as it was to potentially not have that big of an impact shows that it's not that big a risk to push the chips in. If the Browns take a QB with they're 1st pick and he works out as far as they give him the 2nd contract you probably never really feel the financial impact of the Watson deal. Mike Brown cannot take huge swings; he's the only owner in the NFL whose worth doesn't start with a B. Folks like Jimmy Haslam, Jerry Jones, and other billionaire owners can. Mike Brown cannot as he can't assume the debt. IMO the Bengals are doing an outstanding job of acquiring and keeping talent. There's a reason they're accused of following "The Steelers Model" and it's because the Steelers are the 2nd poorest. And lately we've been doing a much better job of putting talent on the field than them. Folks are going to disagree "we need to go all in", but I have a feeling many of those same folks would be shaking their fists at the Bengal's FO when the rent comes due. You want a team w/ an owner willing to take huge financial risks, you may have to swap jerseys. I'm not the biggest fan of retaining Tee for the price, but I damn sure ain't mad at the contract structure RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - Frank Booth - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 02:47 PM)bfine32 Wrote: Mike Brown cannot take huge swings; he's the only owner in the NFL whose worth doesn't start with a B. lol RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - bfine32 - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 02:52 PM)Frank Booth Wrote: lol 1/15/2017 RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - Frank Booth - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 03:07 PM)bfine32 Wrote: 1/15/2017 thinking the bengals have more overall talent than pittsburgh reminds me of a certain date in 2001 RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - bfine32 - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 03:36 PM)Frank Booth Wrote: thinking the bengals have more overall talent than pittsburgh reminds me of a certain date in 2001 IDK about 24 years ago so that's why I said lately, so we'll just disagree. I will say it is refreshing how much better you think Zac is than Tomlin. Yes it does. AND it's a crooked number as well. RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - Frank Booth - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 04:30 PM)BenZoo2 Wrote: Me too. You get the picture I have no idea what his 2017 date implies though RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - TheLeonardLeap - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 05:22 PM)Frank Booth Wrote: I have no idea what his 2017 date implies though Pretty sure that date is the last time the Steelers won a playoff game. They're in a big time rut of being just good enough to not be bad and need to rebuild or make big changes, but never good enough to be anything other than disappointing pretenders, and it's great. Especially in 2024. I dont think its a debate RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - bfine32 - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 04:31 PM)rfaulk34 Wrote: Yes it does. AND it's a crooked number as well. If you include the value of the team; of course that doesn't change the fact that's he's the poorest owner in the NFL. Many owners do football as a hobby; it's the brown's livelihood. They cannot afford the escrow nor put the team deep in debt like other NFL owners. My thought is they have the bigger stars, but even with that, they really shit the bed and looked like a dysfunctional family down the home stretch last season. Tomlin looked lost in our last game. Bengals only have pittsburgh beat with qb and wide receiver. Yes they have a defense, but why not them not going all in. They just signed Rudolph and he is best QB o their roster. They lost 2 running backs to FA. They are limited on cap space again with no QB. Be honest, would you take Bengal's 2025 situation now or the Steeler's? Would you be whining if we had no QB this late in FA? I guess they could draft a QB with pick #21 or their 2nd round pick. Oh wait, they don't have a second round pick. RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - Frank Booth - 03-23-2025 Jesus you people are so irrational about the steelers lol RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - bfine32 - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 08:22 PM)Frank Booth Wrote: Jesus you people are so irrational about the steelers lol Over the last 4 years The Bengals have 2 more regular season wins and 5 more playoff wins than the Pittsburgh Steelers. If it's not players or coaching, then what is it? I'm curious what the rational answer is RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - sandwedge - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 07:34 PM)Frank Booth Wrote: their entire defense is better than cincy's. For all the talented guys they had, they played like shit at the end of last season. Dysfunctional is running rampant in Pittsburgh RE: Great Breakdown of Tee Higgins deal - NUGDUKWE - 03-23-2025 (03-23-2025, 08:33 PM)bfine32 Wrote: Over the last 4 years The Bengals have 2 more regular season wins and 5 more playoff wins than the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'll just say the obvious answer is Quarterback play. But I'm not gonna get into the who has done better roster management. I will say the year they got Minkah they started the season bad and they traded a 1st for him and he helped right the ship. That move is something the Bengals would never do.
