I simply mentioned the Steelers to compare them to the Bengals in reference of owner's worth and the model, in which, they structure contracts.
I suppose I made the "mistake" of suggesting the Bengals have done it better over the last couple years.
That motivated some poster to bold it, enlarge it, and lol at it. So I agree mentioning the Steelers does trigger some fans.

People have taken much smaller sums than a billion dollars as starting points and multiplied wealth greatly, including from a million to become billionaires. Imagine starting with a billion dollars in capital.
If The Family is too poor to afford the escrow to sign players, then go out and diversify and multiple your billion dollars. Posters claim the Browns are good business people. If so, expand your empire so that the fans are not continually dealing with "we are too poor relative to other owners, so we can't afford the escrow."

The whole "Mike Brown is good at business and not football" narrative doesn't ring true. Not something I hear much of anymore but still clearly not good at business if he still remains too poor to match the league average.

I get folks enjoy telling the Brown's how to spend the Brown's money.
I'm just giving rational (it's important to Frank) as to why the Bengals structure contracts as they do.
Like I said, for yours and other folks in the same boat peace of mind. If you can't accept it, find a team that does. Life's too short to follow a team that makes you unhappy.

So what did he get? Here are the details, per a source with knowledge of the terms:
1. 2025 offseason 90-man roster bonus: $20 million, not guaranteed but due five days after signing.
2. 2025 offseason workout bonus: $100,000.
3. 2025 base salary: $13.8 million, not guaranteed at signing.
4. 2025 active per-game roster bonus: $2 million total.
5. 2026 offseason 90-man roster bonus: $10 million, fully guaranteed, with offset language.
6. 2026 offseason workout bonus: $100,000.
7. 2026 base salary: $10.9 million, fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2026 league year.
8. 2026 active per-game roster bonus: $2 million total.
9. 2027 offseason 90-man roster bonus: $5 million.
10. 2027 offseason workout bonus: $100,000.
11. 2027 base salary: $19.2 million.
12. 2027 active per-game roster bonus: $2 million total.
13. 2028 offseason workout bonus: $500,000.
14. 2028 base salary: $27.3 million.
15. 2028 active per-game roster bonus: $2 million total.

The Bengals have, as a practical matter, a year-to-year option. They can pay him $35.9 million for 2025 (if he dresses for every game and earns the $2 million in per-game roster bonuses), and they can move on before the 2026 base salary becomes fully guaranteed. (It's not guaranteed for injury.)
Because the $10 million guaranteed 2026 roster bonus has offset language, they'd likely owe him nothing if they cut him after one year — since he'd likely make more elsewhere.
As a practical matter, it's a two-year, $29.45 million per year contract. But they're not fully committed to year two. It truly could be a one-year, $35.9 million deal.
Put simply, the contract gives Higgins $9.74 million more than the tag for 2025, and $10 million in (as a practical matter) injury insurance for 2026. While it's his prerogative to take the deal, some would have opted to play on the tag in 2025 and hit unrestricted free agency in 2026.
One last point. Although per-game roster bonuses are regarded as part of the base package, this deal has a total of $8 million tied to Higgins being able to suit up every week. He has missed 10 games over the past two seasons; that would cost him $1.17 million under his new contract.
Great breakdown Luvnit. I love the incentive laden contract here for Tee. This is what makes it worth it. He gets paid way more if he stays
healthy and way less if he doesn't. Great motivation, I hope he talks to Housh about that yoga stuff he did to help him get over his early
hammy issues during his career.

IMO, if you ask any football fan if they would take the Bengals roster or Steelers - you know the answer.
If you compare the rosters based on positional value, we come out ahead.
If one understands how difficult it is to find a true franchise QB, also understands that this Steeler roster better than Bengals roster stuff is garbage. We not only have a true franchise QB, we also have top of the league receivers and pass rusher, and really good bookends on OL. The only position in the value critical positions that Steelers maybe better than us, is the CB1.
Lastly in terms of coaching; Tomlin is Marvin Lewis 2.0 at this point. He used the Cowher roster to win and lose a SB, a decade and a half ago. This decade, its been one and done, 4 WC losses in playoffs when they get there. Actually, Marvin lewis would have loved to have the Steeler front office and Rooney pockets.
Now, the simpleton who initially started this nonsense, may come back with an argument around totality of roster. But that is just garbage on garbage.
