RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 07-18-2025 (07-17-2025, 11:54 PM)Luvnit2 Wrote: No doubt Steelers who will start a 41 year old QB who turns 42 in December did a nice job getting Watt signed. My thoughts are he was signed on July 17 so to say no drama is not the entire truth. They also just signed their starting QB recently which was also drama. It was a bad business decision again then. Waiting for others to sign just makes the price go up. It's not my money, but I would of tried and signed all these guys before others set the market. Now Trey will be nearly impossible to sign after the Twatt extension. Just dumb, sorry. I am as positive of a poster as there is, but it is what it is. Waiting for others to sign just makes the price go up. Can you imagine this team with Jessie Bates still on it and Tee, Ja'Marr and Trey all signed to lower contracts, for multiple years, that would allow the Bengals to sign better free agents that would have shored up other positions, like the Oline? All of it realistically could have been done. 100%. No problem. So the brown family wants a player to honor his contract extension and that makes them stupid ..you are correct it is not your money RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 07-18-2025 (07-18-2025, 01:01 PM)rfaulk34 Wrote: Can you imagine this team with Jessie Bates still on it and Tee, Ja'Marr and Trey all signed to lower contracts, for multiple years, that would allow the Bengals to sign better free agents that would have shored up other positions, like the Oline? I can, it is sad they let it go this route. We would be legitimately a SB contender going into last year and even more so this year. These people are always late to the party and it is costing them all the Super Bowlz. Sucks man. ![]() RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 07-18-2025 (07-18-2025, 01:03 PM)ERIC1 Wrote: So the brown family wants a player to honor his contract extension and that makes them stupid ..you are correct it is not your money Did Trey get his extension this Offseason or am I missing something? The FO said they were going to extend him and still haven't last I heard... ![]() If it was my money I would be smarter with it and pay my best players before they got more expensive and others set the market. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - NUGDUKWE - 07-18-2025 (07-18-2025, 12:34 PM)Luvnit2 Wrote: One problem, Bengals did honor the contract and pay 100% of the contract guarantee. So, why would fans complain? The Bengals give out the lowest guaranteed money in the league. But if that's our bar of when said contract is completed that's fine. Trey I'm sure is well past his low guaranteed money so that settles it. He's free to renegotiate and we as fans should totally support him. Sorry, that would just be plain hypocritical stance if you think that way. It's bad when you extend a guy for just 1 year and tell him "play well and next year we'll take care of you" he then puts up 17.5 sacks and says "well?" and then you go again "for real this time play well again and next year we'll take care of you" and then he puts up another 17.5 sack, looks at you waiting for you to take care of him like you've said you would the last two years, and the DE market explodes and you only want to pay two years ago prices today. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Luvnit2 - 07-18-2025 (07-18-2025, 01:06 PM)Nate (formerly eliminate08) Wrote: Did Trey get his extension this Offseason or am I missing something? Ot they have already made a business decision to not extend Trey. You guys forget the Bengals have him under contract so don't have to cave to his demands. They can tell him to take a hike and he is stuck, stuck in 2025, 2026 and 2027 if Bengals choose to honor his 2025 contract and then franchise him 2x. I want him signed, but I think team still has the leverage. Does he really want to get 50K a day and not get paid his 2025 salary at 30 years old to rebel and make a point? If he does, he may never recoup any money lost if Bengals say no new deal in 2025 or extension. We know he was offered an extension, he said no so he would lose that as well. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Luvnit2 - 07-18-2025 (07-18-2025, 01:59 PM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: Low effort. Wrong Bengals extended him for 2 years in 2022 through 2025, not one year. Then he asked for another extension last year, we said no. Bengals then offered him an extension in 2025, Trey said no. Yet, fans say the FO has created all of the drama. I say just the opposite. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - QueenCity - 07-18-2025 I agree it could be as simple as the Bengals FO now view Trey as an expiring contract. There is no longer a deal on the table unless Trey is willing to come down on his offer. Shame that the Bengals would rather have an expiring than a trade piece. I try to be understanding, but some fans (not you) have no sense of business and let their emotions guide them. I have never said Bengals handled this well, nor I have said Trey handled it well. The fact is he is under contract and it is him who turned down an offer. Our fans are the real drama queens. I don't see our players or coaches tanking the season if Trey chooses to sit out a portion of 2025. Watt is classified as an edge rusher, Trey a DE so don't think he has an impact on Trey's tag in 2026. Not really smart as Trey is our only great pass rusher. I know Trey is under contract and agree the team has the leverage. Trey should of signed the extension offered. Just saying if they got this done sooner before Twatt they would of saved money if that is all they are about. The FO said they would extend Trey this Offseason, though, so if they changed their minds and made a business decision not to extend him that is hypocritical and not good for future communications for other players who play their butts off and are tops at their positions. (07-18-2025, 02:17 PM)ERIC1 Wrote: No nate..burrow ..and a host of other injured starting players prevented us from a playoff run the past two years It was injury to a point, especially when Burrow went down with the wrist injury a couple years ago. But if we had Jesse Bates still in the fold we would be much better on Defense, letting him go was a big mistake looking back. Waiting to sign Ja'Marr cost the team a ton of money after he won the triple crown last year. Waiting to extend Trey is costing them money unless they don't want to extend him at all which could cost the team without another proven pass rusher. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Luvnit2 - 07-18-2025 Looking at the Watt contract, they actually lowered his base in 2025 by 17 million creating more cap space this year. But then in 2026 and 2027, he has a cap hit of 42 million. Year 4 has zero guaranteed money. So in essence, really a 90 million extension. 123 - 33 million not guaranteed in 2028. |
