RE: New DC hired? - Nicomo Cosca - 01-21-2025 Irish just forced a turnover. Maybe they can at least keep it respectable. Every team does similar things in some fashion or another RE: New DC hired? - Big Boss - 01-21-2025 (01-20-2025, 11:58 PM)jj22 Wrote: So is ours on defense Not to this extent. RE: New DC hired? - jj22 - 01-21-2025 Timely turnovers. This is like watching Lou RE: New DC hired? - J24 - 01-21-2025 ND was 9th in yards and second in points coming into the National Championship game. Watch Joe Goodberry video on him & Patrick Graham coaching style. RE: New DC hired? - KillerGoose - 01-21-2025 (01-21-2025, 12:22 AM)J24 Wrote: So what do you run? Primarily zone coverage. You can run any of them. Cover 2/3/4. When you run press man, the idea is that you are bringing pressure. However, if your defensive line is inconsistent and you don’t have linebackers that can win, either, then you are putting an immense amount of pressure on your secondary. They have their backs turned, they are on an island, and the offense has all kinds of picks and rubs they can run. There’s a good reason that the vast majority of NFL teams run primarily zone coverage. It’s talent. If you have a secondary full of doods, then cover 1 is probably the best coverage in football. That isn’t for Cincinnati, though. RE: New DC hired? - bfine32 - 01-21-2025 (01-20-2025, 11:30 PM)BengalsLUFC Wrote: Came on here expecting to see a meltdown. You must understand this is most likely the first UND game some have watched this year. It's like someone evaluating Johnson or Glenn after only watching this week's Commanders game. Isn't like 70% of the time teams run zone coverage around the league? RE: New DC hired? - M.W. - 01-21-2025 (01-20-2025, 06:37 PM)Luvnit2 Wrote: Lots of chatter about ND being inferior to OSU. We will see how it plays out. It is showing. Ohio State has better players. RE: New DC hired? - KillerGoose - 01-21-2025 (01-21-2025, 12:36 AM)J24 Wrote: Dumb question on my part. It’s something like that. The Bills led the league running man about 42% of the time. The average percentage of man coverage was around 25%. It’s really, really hard to run man consistently in the NFL. RE: New DC hired? - M.W. - 01-21-2025 You can'r say the Pats OL was so bad because of bad players so the new OL coach gets a pass but the potential D coordinator sucks because his defense that has played wonderfully all year long is garbage because his ND team can't contain Ohio State. Get a grip folks. RE: New DC hired? - Nicomo Cosca - 01-21-2025 (01-21-2025, 12:43 AM)M.W. Pats - ugh RE: New DC hired? - Nicomo Cosca - 01-21-2025 Would have liked to see him get a stop on 3rd & 11 right there. That was too easy. RE: New DC hired? - phil413 - 01-21-2025 Even with them sitting on run on 3rd, you NEVER single Jeremiah Smith. Also illegal contact being an automatic first down can't make it easy to run man. RE: New DC hired? - jj22 - 01-21-2025 Lou’s trained him well RE: New DC hired? - BengalsLUFC - 01-21-2025 Loved the play call tbh. Gave me flashbacks to the ***** Super Bowl if we could have just bought Burrow an extra second. Shows the importance of a good OL. |
