RE: BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 03-17-2025 (03-17-2025, 01:45 PM)pally Wrote: Rock on. ![]() RE: Burrow; Welcome to the Hot Seat - ochocincos - 03-17-2025 (03-17-2025, 05:17 PM)jj22 Wrote: What happened is unprecedented. Never has a group of players held out to strongarm Ownership. That comes with accountability. Brady nor Mahones could keep their SB teams together. Brady even took less money just to be played for a fool. How did they "strong arm" the Bengals ownership? Burrow did not threaten to leave or sit out. Chase and Higgins did not threaten to sit out unless traded. Bengals made a choice to keep these "Big 3" on veteran contracts. Sometimes it just looks greener on the other side adding someone from The common theme some are missing, Trey love the organization and city. Hill loves the organization and the city. Ossai wants to go back to the Super Bowl. It was not long ago our own players wanted out. That culture changed and now we showed those like Rankins and Cappa the door for underperforming. No doubt, we have work to do in FA yet, but the real work is on teh coaches to improve the roster. We need them to take good NFL players and make 2 or 3 great. The FO took the #1 FA in 2025 Tee off the market and then did what many of us said may be a mistake signed him long term. They paid him. Maybe time to give the FO props for a job well done. So you need a defense to pass rush and force turnovers and have an elite offense. We have to go through Bills and Chiefs. Didn't Chase and Higgins agent say they wouldnt sign unless both of them were signed? Wasnt Joe Burrow all over the media telling Bengals management they both need to be signed? These guys forced this. RE: They're Done!!! They were desperately fearful of upsetting Burrow and learned from the Carson situation. Ignoring how Burrow applied pressure is missing a significant moment for this franchise. No excuse for not seeing how pleasing Burrow was influential. Chase wasn't signing until Tee signed. They were a package deal and that put the FO in a tough spot. That's what the discussion on how this has changed the league is coming from as players now team up in all or no one negotiations. Bengals handed star players around the league a huge win as now they can demand / make their friends sign extensions or they won't ultimatums.... This was a significant moment for the league and there's no reason to not acknowledge it. Ramp it up fellas!! ![]() ![]() RE: Burrow; Welcome to the Hot Seat - Destro - 03-17-2025 Offensive line has been an issue before these contracts…like for years! The defense has been flash and trash, but more trash trajectory of late. Hell, forget before the contracts, been that way before Burrow got here. Drafted Burrow and Chase because the team sucked. Not on Burrow if the team hasn’t changed. If you’re going to lose, better to do it very rich. IF that actually was the case where Chase 100% wasn't going to sign without Higgins, that's still ownership's decision to proceed or not. If they didn't feel comfortable, they could have let both walk out the door after their contracts expire, or trade 1/both of them. Burrow already signed his deal so he was stuck lol. It's hard to say we have improved when it's basically the same roster as last year. What new starters do we have? Slaton taking over Rankins spot? Maybe you count that but Kris Jenkins had more starts than Rankins. Ford and Volson both started games last year on offense. Ossai started a few games at DE last year. Its the same group of guys on a team that went 9-8. I agree, this team still needs a lot more work before we talk Super Bowl caliber. At least we didn't lose players, but yeah, it is basically the same roster with a new Defensive staff and a new OL coach. I do like the additions of Slaton which is the type of DT we should of gotten last year instead of a 3-tech in Rankins, Oren Burks shown some great things late last year for the Eagles. Perine is a damn good pass protector and adds physicality which we desperately needed. Also we should expect players like Kris Jenkins, McKinnley Jackson, Cedric Johnson to improve from last season now that they got their feet wet. We need a couple Guards though, this would be where we could improve the team the most. RE: They're Done!!! That’s my point, it’s still basically the same team as last year. 2 high priced receivers, one of which only plays half the games. Still can’t run the ball with the line we have and no real changes on defense. Only way we get better at this point is to win a couple of those one score games and get a couple of referee calls our way. RE: They're Done!!! Our long wait is over - Timanky12 - 03-17-2025 Since I don’t see major changes on either line, are only hope is the new coaches and get more out of the players we already have. |
