No sure I'm reading it correctly, but I assume that means 43% of the time, we have no play-action when we pass. If that is correct, it makes sense; Joed prefers an empty set. Also looks like the only playoff team (unless I missed one) that has less than 40% of their early down calls be runs is the Chiefs at 37%. We're at 32%. I really enjoy Ben's content but I'll be completely honest here. I have no idea how to read this. RE: Shout out for Zac Taylor - Synric - 01-11-2025 (01-11-2025, 12:59 PM)KillerGoose Wrote: I really enjoy Ben's content but I'll be completely honest here. The Bengals pass more and run less on first and second down than any other team in the NFL. They also throw the least amount of screens and are middle of the pack in RPOs as easy buttons for the QB. The QB is obviously important for this scheme but having alot and diverse set of pass catchers is paramount. He is the best pocket passer in the NFL. I'm sure somewhere on another Fan site, fans are advocating for their QB to throw more from the pocket. IMO Joe's passing game fall into the category: If it ain't broke don't fix it. Of course only my opinion. I see an offense that is leaning away from blocking as much as possible because they are struggling to block in all aspects. So are you giving credit to the playcalling, discrediting the playcalling, or just saying? We know Joe likes empty sets RE: Shout out for Zac Taylor - Frank Booth - 01-11-2025 (01-11-2025, 02:01 PM)bfine32 Wrote: So are you giving credit to the playcalling, discrediting the playcalling, or just saying? youre gonna go crazy continuing to argue, bfine RE: Shout out for Zac Taylor - rfaulk34 - 01-11-2025 (01-11-2025, 12:59 PM)KillerGoose Wrote: I really enjoy Ben's content but I'll be completely honest here. He explained the RPO and Screens are their own category so I'm guessing their both shotgun and under center (RPOs are all Shotgun though by design lol). Yep. This clearly shows Joe prefers to be in shotgun, without having to take his eyes off the defense as much as possible. Can't really say though, how much that has to do with bad blocking (probably pretty much?) or if he just feels like he can do the most damage that way, not really "needing" all the clutter that other QBs use. Don't know what the stats are for runs w or w/o PA, but if your line sucks enough at run blocking, that may not even give you much of an advantage. Trying to assume their thought process with that one. I thought the exact same thing and was going to leave them seperate but the shotgun rpo is what made me keep them in shotgun. lol I will say, just off the top of my head. They probably run a decent amount of under center, PA screens. I don't hate Zac's play calling as a staff they do a great job adjusting to coverages in game and getting the offense into advantageous passing concepts. I do hate that they don't prioritize blocking which gets them in trouble in short yardage, goal line, and horizontal passing plays. It kind of goes without saying that a better Oline opens up an avenue for some of the things they don't do very often. If i'm a QB and i'm under center, running a PA and i turn around to instantly feel defenders on me, i'm not gonna want to do that too much. |
