NFL Rules - HarleyDog - 12-01-2024 I'm confused. With 7+ minutes in the game, Burrow throws to Yoshi and Yoshi ran out of bounds. Why did the clock continue to run? There was also another play I think right before that where the player ran out of bounds, and the clock continues to run. What gives? RE: NFL Rules - TheLeonardLeap - 12-01-2024 If it was in the last 5 minutes of the second half it would have stopped. RE: NFL Rules - Destro - 12-02-2024 Only when inside 5 minutes, with only a few exceptions. Games would be epically long, if not. RE: NFL Rules - HarleyDog - 12-03-2024 Within the last 5 minutes? Has it always been this way? If not, when did it change? RE: NFL Rules - BengalYankee - 12-03-2024 (12-03-2024, 11:39 AM)HarleyDog Wrote: Within the last 5 minutes? Has it always been this way? If not, when did it change? The rule changed many years ago. As well as shorter half times. Dopy NFL commissioner wanted the games to go quicker. What about the fans who wanted to go to the bathroom or get a bite and drink? RE: NFL Rules - HarleyDog - 12-03-2024 (12-03-2024, 12:11 PM)BengalYankee Wrote: The rule changed many years ago. Not crazy, just years behind on noticing and processing information. ![]() RE: NFL Rules - HarleyDog - 12-03-2024 (12-03-2024, 08:19 PM)TecmoBengals Wrote: Not crazy, just years behind on noticing and processing information. So it's been this way as long as we've had Mike Brown as our owner. Just in case you were also wondering, the forward pass has been around since the early 1900s. ![]() RE: NFL Rules - 6andcounting - 12-07-2024 No one has mentioned it, but I think the clock is stopped until the refs spot the ball, then it winds down. Talking about outside of 5 minutes of course.
