Is Hunter Greene just Homer Bailey 2.0? Every once in awhile he'll flash something really impressive that makes you want to believe that somewhere in there is an ace (K 14, or no hitter), but then he'll just go back to being what you fear he is, someone not bad enough to completely move on from, but never good enough to feel good about keeping, until it's time to dangle another little talent carrot out there later.

1 step forward and 2 steps back

He's still young and I try and chalk it up to that. But it sure seems he's going to peak at about a #3 Thus far he's just way to inconsistent to be considered an ACE.

In 45 starts he has 9 wins. And at some point, in the not too distant future the old saying you are what the back of your baseball card says you are is going to apply to him.

Starting off on the right foot. Problem is Arizona woke up and is winning 9-4. Atlanta trying to comeback on the Cubs but Cubs still up 6-3.

Yeah, a status quo is bad. Need them to get some Ls to pair with our W.

Christian Walker with a two run bomb to give Arizona an 11-4 lead.

Ronald Acuna Jr with a two run shot to bring the Braves back to within one of the Cubs at 6-5.

Crazy thing was, before tonight, Elly's last extra base hit was on September 2nd. He has been going through a major power outage in September and, apparently, he changed his bat today for one that appears to be longer. It would be interesting if that ended up being a reason why he did so well tonight (this is based on twitter speculation, not any interview with Elly himself)

Marlins are in game 1 of their doubleheader and are losing 4-0 in the 5th. If they lose both and we win, we jump in front of them by 1/2 game. Arizona won already. Catching them is near impossible now. Catching the Cubs is very possible.

The Cubs final 5 games are 2 vs Atlanta and 3 vs Milwaukee.

The Dodgers are technically still in the running for the #1 seed, so the Braves should be interested in playing hard, even if for just 2 more games (if they win the next 2 games, they reach 103 games, which is better than the Dodgers can reach if they win out, 102).

Milwaukee clinched the division last night and are locked into the #3 seed, so they MAY not have much play for other than bragging rights, but being the ones to knock the Cubs out of the playoffs will hopefully be enough motivation for them to play hard.

They may be extra motivated because if they kick the Cubs out, they would likely play us, who they have demolished all season. That may be a good incentive to control who their opponent will be.

But then, you could say the same for the Cardinals being motivated to kick us out of the playoffs.

It's going to be an exciting end of the week. I hope the Reds keep winning and see where things go. If the Braves and Brewers kick Chicago's ass, we could sneak in as the final seed and play Milwaukee next week.

Only saving grace is the Guardians running themselves off the bases.
