His average would improve. If they are only able to score 10 points, then some of those 3 and outs could be 2 running plays. Replace some of those wide receiver screens for -2 yards. Eventually runs will break through in the 4th quarter if you keep pounding the ball.
Steelers were giving up 4.0 yards per carry to opposing rb's. They could have possibly won the game if they fed the rb's 20 caries. With a backup quarter back, I'd rather see a 3 and out's with run attempts then 3 pass attempts out of empty leading to a 30 second possession.
They should take this opportunity to develop a run game for 2024. They might not win games, but to see the run game come alive would be something significant heading into 2024 given we'll have many of the same components outside of RT going into that year as it relates to the run game.
From the article I linked...
"The spread and shred identity of the Bengals will [most likely] always be what they look like as a team. There is a give and take with getting Burrow under center more often to try to get shot plays off of play action and a more effective run game, but overall that’s never going to be the identity of the offense. Burrow is not just a cog in the offensive machine. He is the machine.
Personnel wise this is also pretty much all they can do this season. Outside of the offensive line, they have one good blocker in Drew Sample. They cannot get heavy with multiple tight ends because Tanner Hudson, Mitchell Wilcox, Irv Smith, and every wide receiver lacks the ability to block. The run game design and personnel is for them to beat teams on the ground when they sell out to stop the passing game. We saw this work against the Ravens in the game Burrow got hurt.
In the seven carries that Mixon had before Burrow went down, he picked up 43 yards (6.14 yards per carry), with five of those plays being successful run plays (71.4%). They found a way to punish Baltimore on the ground for being in two-high (safety) shells the entire game. The Bengals had a 0% success rate against the Steelers and ran for 16 yards on eight carries (2-yards per carry). They are not built to deal with the extra man in the box with who they have on this team."

Ha ha, me too....now he just needs to shotgun beers in the endzone when he scores on the ground.

The only thing more guarded than Burrow’s injury information is Mike Brown’s thoughts. Because for 3+ decades fans have been asking themselves, “What the f is Mike Brown thinking?”
You said I didn’t have any so I’ve been exposed and violated lmao
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

No, I live in the real world: there are multitudes of honest, REAL people that don't play games or whom are fake.
Clearly, you are one of the latter and I sure as hell am one of the former.

No, it's called playing games.
And I'm far from dramatic: people have dogged on me for being too serious for most of my adult life (including on here).

Great all around from the offense.
The game day thread is toxic. I’m glad I’ll be at the next two games so I don’t have to take part in that.

Jake Browning performing like this makes Zac more sus, not less.
A healthy browning was better than a hurt Burrow, but he still trotted Burrow out there becasue?
So we can have a non-terrible run game without Burrow, but we can't with Burrow because...reasons?

The Game day thread was pathetic. People don't understand giving your backup QB some easy completions for confidence. They also don't understand that you have to run some stretch plays and short passes to keep the D honest so you can run inside and pass vertically. Or even that just because the QB dumps it short doesn't mean there are no routes working deeper downfield.

He played a good game tonight and the OL opened some holes for him. When they did, he actually made the first guy miss. It's going to remain to be seen if he can pass protect, but he did good tonight with what was asked of him.

when the bengals win. it's pretty much been in spite of the coaching staff. the jacksonville win proves the point imo.

You can do that without having plays that almost never work. We look like crap when we pass horizontally and our screen game needs a lot of work (probably in part because we have big issues defending screens). And way too many of our third down calls are passes short of the sticks and so relying on YAC.
