Lamar Might be Better Than Burrow

Yes, correct. When Joe is on and not hurting he is deadly with his passing.

But yeah, "opinions vary".

Extremely weak season for QB’s. Mahomes and Allen both had a down year. Rodgers and Burrow both got hurt. When Tua is leading the league in passing a lot probably went wrong around the league.

Personally, I thought it should have went to Tyreek or CMC. Both had historic seasons, but MVP is basically a QB award at this point.

Well if you'd had been 1 of the 50 voters then the best Lamarr could have done is 48 out of 50 first-place votes.

MVP is subjective, anyone can tell you who had the better stats, but MVP requires a qualitative view. 49 out of 50 says quite a bit.

Burrow is severely overrated and the question is is he even better than his draft comp Dalton.

Dalton with Burrows post season defense could have taken us to the AFCC and Superbowl. It’s time to have a serious conversation about Burrow.

Whenever y’all ready I’m ready to talk about the elephant in the room.

Defensive rankings during the Dalton playoff years:

2011 - points (9th), yards (7th)
2012 - points (8th), yards (6th)
2013 - points (5th), yards (3rd)
2014 - points (12th), yards (22nd)

Even if you want to take out 2014 when all his weapons were hurt, Dalton had good defenses in all his other playoff seasons. The 1:6 TD/INT ratio, and 57.8 career postseason rating might have had more to do with never making a run.

During his playoff “years” but not during the playoffs. He didn’t have Burrows playoff defense.

Dalton also had the best ability. Durability. Availability.

There’s the meme going around of Burrow picture morphing into Dalton and it’s gaining steam. If you look closely it’s hard to really tell the difference. Everything people attacked Dalton for they give Burrow a pass.

Who needs everything perfect around them?
Who needs top receivers?
Who had happy feet?

….

Are we talking about Dalton or Burrow?

The are we talking about Dalton or Burrow game may be eye opening for some around here.

FINALLY someone is saying it.  I quit posting because of it because I didn't want to upset the Burrow fan boys. I didn't want to become what they became (see: Dalton thread).

He even threw it out of bounds on 4th down once and today  - almost lost a fumble while sliding head first ala San Diego.

I have been saying it at home to my wife for years now ("Dude's Dalton") and my buddy says he's the most overrated QB of all time and when the contract was signed  went nuclear on me.  I'm finding it hard to argue these days.

Dalton had his bad days but he also had great days that is what was maddening about him and Burrow is exactly the same.

I don't care about stats i watch the damn games with my eye balls - and the game is totally differen't now then it was in Dalton's prime.  Back when you could actually hit the QB and put a little fear into him. That style of play seemed to officially die in Cincinnati by none other than Vontaze Burfict. And if it wasn't dead then it was further killed by Ryan Shazier a few years later again, in Cincinnati. All while the whole world watched.

And then Jesus Christ - a man died on our field, again during primetime a few years later.

BenJarvis Green-Ellis aside - NOBODY ever showed up for those playoff games or primetime games save the big win against Manning's Broncos. This was Marvin's biggest flaw he was a 1/4pm coach.

I bet the Ravens would dominate the AFC North if Burrow was their QB1.

If the Bengals originally drafted Lamar he'd probably be out of the league right now.

Another exhibit pointing to this reared its head this week. Jackson, on the road against a defense /w Chris Jones and Trent Mcduffie, drove the ball down to tie it only to fall short by a toe.

Joe Burrow, with an opportunity to do the same against a lesser defense, looked like Daniel Jones out there.

Burrow is supposed to be HIM. We're certainly paying him like he is. He definitely acts like he is with his trips to Paris looking like a big-time playa. Why isn't he making these plays against lesser teams?

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, the only thing we are going to define QBs is this past weekend's games? GTFO here with this IDIOTIC bullshit.

Dalton also felt the need to do too much in the playoffs because he COULDN"T lean on the Defense.....

Dalton wasn't a system QB. Limited to shotgun and empty sets.

There is the argument Dalton was an overall better QB than Burrow.

I admit I could be misremembering, but didn't you bash Dalton the entire time he was here?

No, there isn't.

Dalton was a better QB than he was given credit for, but he still needed a running game, a couple decent receivers and a good offensive line to be a good QB. Only thing Burrow's had over Dalton has been receivers. And Burrow has shown to be a MUCH better QB.

Yes there is. Hell people act like the Offense is stale and vanilla, but it was much better and showed much more promise under Browning..... Browning!

Burrows limitations are being exposed as the years go on.

You can't blame coaches when we all saw how different the offense was with a QB who can do more.

Are we really debating Dalton being as good as Burrow, really? I like Dalton as much as anyone, but some of you need to take your meds...

You can say what you want about QB's who aren't system QB's and can play a variety of systems and plays. But you can't then complain about a system that coaches have to implement due to a system QB.....  All the while propping up that system QB.

Yes we are talking about Dalton who played in 4 systems, 2 of which were very different and he had equal success in. Burrow could never. Never be flexible in what he can do. He is too limited (even though what he can do he does well when Defenses allow him to)..... And that's the reality it's time to face.

The offense was at it's best when Burrow was finally healthy. Go look at the 49ers,  Cardinals,  and Bills game from last season.
