**Waived DE KJ Henry. Henry, a second-year player, was acquired on waivers by the Bengals on Aug. 28. He played in each of the team's first two regular-season games (no statistics).
**Released WR Shedrick Jackson from the practice squad. Jackson, a first-year player, originally was a college free agent signee of the Bengals in 2023.
my guess is tomorrow KJ Henry is being signed to the PS

Didn’t see him on many lists. I wonder why they see him as the best fit. It’d be nice to get that real info sometime but I’m not holding my breath

Savvy veteran. Always strong against the run especially in 18 when he was elite.

That was 7 seasons ago. Last year he posted a 45.5 PFF grade. Lawerence has been on a steady decline since that 2018 season
2023 45.5
2022 53.5
2021 62.5
2020 68.2
2019 71.7
2018 89.8

So was everyone around him. DTs play as a unit. Guy was the correct signing and likely they elevate Rogers too. I really am rooting for Jenkins to be ready - that is the start to fixing the whole issue.

Yeah, just wondering if there’s a system fit btwn us and NE. Seems different to me but I have no clue how they see it. Also fear duplication- if he’s a natural 3T and we need a 0/1, is he the right guy for us right now? If we’re repurposing him as a NT, can he command doubles in the way we need him to? I’m sure they picked him up for a reason but it can’t be his PFF scores, so what’s drawing us to him specifically? Feels so random but granted, I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed

Signing a 34-year-old off his couch coming off a season with 1 TFL and 0 QB Hits is a bold backup plan.

How many teams lose 4 DT's and a DE that can play inside on passing situations before week #3 of the season? Of course, no all pro DT's sitting and waiting to sign?
He has experience our 2 rookie DT's who are injured lack. Maybe he can contribute in more ways and help these young guys once they are healthy.
Other than a trade, slim pickings available at DT left on market.
Maybe if Rams lose the 3rd game, they could trade us a DT as their season is heading south in a hurry.
2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Reminds me of a few years back when we lost all our DT's and had to sign Margus Hunt to play DT. He turned out to be a much better DT than he was a DE. You have to get the best of what's out there. I know nothing about Guy, was he on a team during camp, or sitting at home?

I can't really blame the team for signing an experienced vet, as the pickings are slim for interior DL starters at this time of year.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Rumor from inside Paycor is that Zac mentioned needing a guy for the DL and Duke took immediate action.

Yeah, this pretty much sums it up. There really isn't a whole lot you can do in this situation, other than get someone that can come in due to experience and play out of the gate. This is nothing more than an emergency situation that can be rectified with a veteran. It's not like the Bengals signed this guy to be Geno Atkins. He's here to hold down a position until the team gets its injured players back.

What're you talking about? 2018 was just a couple years ago.

Not really. Guy was a 4-5T, playing inside and outside the OT for the majority of his snaps. We likely slide him down, but that was not his forte.

everyone knows the bengals needed to make a move (or two). given the options available to lou, this isn't a bad move. they needed someone who could help them for the next 4 weeks, not in 4 weeks after learning the system. grabbing a vet like this, he should be up to speed quicker than most of the younger players would have. tupou would have been the only other help this week via a "plug and play" FA signing.
still expecting a PS move for depth could happen too

Yes and Tupou very well could be out of shape which was always his problem. Huggins hasn't been good at all in his career, backup.
It was all we could get at the time and I am sure Guy is in good enough shape and passed a physical otherwise he wouldn't be on the team.
Agree with Joelist that getting Kris Jenkins back at this point should help the most, but we needed a body.
Last I counted, 2018 was 6 years ago as well, not 7 lol
