This is not top 5 WR numbers and he has looked pedestrian in route running our first 2 games. Nah. Teams have adjusted to limit his explosive plays. I don't think the Bengals have been very successful yet in countering, by both an effective run game and utilizing the middle of the field more. That said, if they continue to game plan the TE's and start running the ball more effectively we'll see more of the big plays. Once those safeties start seriously respecting those other options both he and Tee should really roll. Hopefully they finally have the personnel to make it work.

Like it or not Chase has peaked until he has a season that exceed that of his rookie year. People can say what we want, come up with any excuse they want. And wr1's on teams that only have 1 wr1 still get big numbers. Folks hate to hear it but facts are facts.

Is it wrong that I want us to stop coming out slow next season so that we'll stop with these ridiculous posts on how our best players suck now more than just so that we won't start the season behind other teams?

No he is just a being a blow pop right now.

That was a bit of my point, though im not saying he is not putting up decent numbers and is not a good WR but as a top 5 WR in the league, the numbers he has been putting up since fall of 2023 are not what we expect even with some variables involved. My personal opinion is Adams from the Raiders is the top WR when you factor in talent around him, revolving QBs, changes in coaching. I think next two games are big, we are playing one not so good team in Washington and then the worse team in the NFL in Carolina, it is time for Chase to move up his game or we are going on almost a season of him playing below a top tier WR and that should start to worry people

Don't forget the annual year end complaining when all these great players that we had numerous threads dedicated to about how much they suck get "snubbed" in All Pro, MVP, Pro Bowl, and NFL100 voting.

If he wants to get paid as the top WR in the NFL, he needs to prove he deserves it on the field. I'm sure sitting out practices has affected his play this year, but that's his fault. He's a diva and it wouldn't break my heart if he doesn't get a 2nd contract here. After the way he showed up his QB last game, Burrow may not mind himself. Someone on here once told me before he got drafted that he wasn't a "me first" type of guy. I'm sorry that person was wrong. Please FO don't pay this guy as a top WR.

Has he peaked? I don't know, let's throw him a few balls down field and find out.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations -Frank Booth 1/9/23

But Chase, like about any other receiver, needs to have some other weapons to go along with him. Teams will naturally try to double and triple him always if they don't feel the others are a threat. You only start getting him single covered more often again as teams start going, "Oh, we also need to worry about that guy." Game 1 there was no one else to worry about. Game 2 started showing maybe there's something to these TEs. They stepped up and may need more focus on coverage. A lot of this is also because Higgins is out. Higgins will help draw coverage away from Chase just as Chase has helped draw coverage away from Higgins in years past.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive. Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yeah, Chase has "peaked", nothing to do with blanket double coverage and other mid WRs not being able to get open... mind-numbing.

I still think by the end of the season it will be his best which is why I was hoping we got the extension done.

Reality is Joe Mixon balled out against the worst rushing defense in the NFL that is allowing 237 rushing yards PER GAME. Lets see how the rest of the non-Colts season goes for him. Remember the Panthers game where he had like 200 yards rushing and 5 TD's overall? That was like his entire season of "balling out".

Don't know why they went away from him when he was doing so well. They couldn't stop him, then we played the Chiefs and McDuffie who only got called for 1 PI after being able to hold him, facemask him, hip drop tackle him (another play, not the one he was bitching about) and pretty much hang all over him all game. I won't say Chase peaked, but if you look at AJ Green's career, his 1st 5 years were his best years, then there was a clear decline. He was still good, and some of it was injuries, but he wasn't elite.

Plus the passing scheme hasn't exactly been complex having to keep at least one TE in to block most of the time. Ts, they did do a much better job of opening up the TE aspect of the offense against KC. That's going to give other DCs nightmares and should benefit JC. |
