Hamilton Co. to consider dome for Paycor

Also F hosting the SB. What's the odds of us actually being in the SB when we host it versus our season being over and then a bunch of KC and 49ers fans just swarming into our city and making everything crowded.

Even if by all odds we host the SB and are playing in the SB, the 2023 season SB tickets cost $6,875-$22,907 each.

Hosting the SB is overrated.

Do you sit outside when you watch these games on TV?

Paycor is fine without a dome..we like open weather football..even with a "dome"..as great as Cincinnati is ..it is not a warm weather destination spot and most liely we will never get a super bowl

It will enhance the fans experience and help our great QB and great kicker with no wind.

Financially, it will make the stadium available year-round for not only Super Bowls, but NCAA championships final fours as well. To me, it is a no brainer.

and there are many of us that dont want a dome..the weather is not bothersome..we are not getting a superbowl here and we can and have done  many other events @ Paycor without a dome..and dont hold your breath...the cost of adding a dome along with other improvements will be near the 2 billion dollar mark..the cost of a new stadium

It would be a tough sell to get the wealthy and famous to buy into the idea of slogging around slushy sidewalks, under bleak gray skies for a week in February.

Financially it makes sense for both the county and Bengals to have a dome. Both entities would reap the additional revenue from the ability to rent out the facility year-round.

As for the Super Bowl, the challenge is not airport location (still less than 30 minutes to downtown) or the number of hotel rooms it is the lack of LUXURY hotel rooms. The additional 600 or so rooms from the new convention center hotel will help but realistically to host a Supor Bowl, Cincinnati's downtown would need another 600 or so high-end rooms on top of that to host. That means hotels like Ritz Carlton, W, JW Marriott, Conrad, Four Seasons, Intercontinental. The problem is that Cincinnati doesn't have the daily business to support that many more rooms in the market.

You're taking some heat for this, but you might have hit on something here.  I can certainly watch a game on tv that's played in a dome, but as a viewer I'd much prefer a game being played outside.  For example, as much as I discussed hating rain in my post above, a rainy game on tv doesn't bother me, and snow games are downright fun to watch.  So for a game I'm not attending, give me the elements.  In person though, I have zero problem with a dome.  Over the years I attended roughly two dozen games at the Pontiac Silverdome, and believe me, there was never a time I went to usually cold and sometimes rainy/snowy suburban Detroit in November and wished that the game were being played back at Tiger Stadium.  No sir.  You walk in, take off your coat and sit in 72 degree comfort.  Yeah, if it's a nice day you miss being outside, but if it isn't, you're thankful for the dome.

What a great idea, I will try that next time we play indoors!

Detroit and Minnesota have both hosted multiple SBs, and both Indianapolis and even outdoor MetLife have each hosted one as well, so the weather isn't a deal-breaker.   The problem I believe, as has been discussed throughout the years on local radio, is the lack of hotel space.  Cincinnati does not have enough "nice" hotel rooms to host the rich and famous for a Super Bowl.  I remember some sports talk guy, maybe it was Bob Trumpy, once suggesting having small cruise ships (ones that could navigate the Ohio, if there is such a ship that could fit under the bridges) docked next to the stadium to provide the luxury accommodations necessary.

A dome certainly wouldn't hurt the odds of landing a game, though.

My first NFL game was at the old Silverdome! Boy scout troop went to watch the Lions against Buccaneers. The elements don't bother me much.

I like the idea of a dome and would hope it happens soon than later. I think I have about 30 good years left in me and would like to attend a Bengals home game in the dome. Hilarious

I miss going to games there, especially when you were leaving after the game.  Most of the doors that were open were revolving doors, but we'd look for an open single door to exit through because the pressure to keep the dome inflated would literally push you hard out of the door.  It was like being in a wind tunnel.  I saw a lot of great games there over the decades, including every Thanksgiving game Barry ever played.

Yup, just a little.

We lost that game because our coaches bet on Eli Apple winning 1v1 Triple Crown Cooper Kupp, Quentin Spain winning 1v1 Reigning DPoY Aaron Donald, and Samaje Perine in general.

That's funny, because that is the one thing I remember is the pressure going in and out... That and all the people smoking in their seats, what a wonderful time it was!!  Hilarious Hilarious

Maybe we treat the AFC Championship as the finale because it's another Domed Superbowl ...

But it's in Nawlins, so fate demands that Chase and Burreaux be there!

I'm for a retractable roof because I think outdoors still means something. Even wind plays a factor in games.

Personally, logistically, they messed up with the location of the casino downtown. It should have been on the water, with additional hotels built, around the two stadiums.
