Yeah, I became aware of that when they drafted him. Saban measured his words carefully, but made his concerns about Burton clear by pointing out his ways in college.

What is everyone's hot take?
Does Burton's career go the way of Reggie Rembert or does he quickly figure it out and have a more successful NFL career?
Quick run down on Reggie:

What a disappointing season for such a talented player.
I guess the reason he fell to the 3rd round was valid.
It's a shame the Bengals were blinded by the talent and didn't see this red flag as clearly as the other 31 teams.
Hopefully, he turns it around soon. But it's going to be hard for him to mature in real time during a season.

I wonder if he would have fallen to even a round later in the draft if the Bengals didn't select him in round 3? Maybe other teams viewed him as only worth a 6th or 7th round pick or not worth drafting at all.

My reply to him in agreement signaled the same designation that I also do not have the qualifications to diagnose. Neither of us were trying to diagnose Burton. Your "LOL!" interpretation is just wrong since neither made a diagnosis.
I do have other professional qualifications and decades of experience (which makes me recognize I'm old) to stand by my observations about Burton as a potential talking point on a forum where most posts made are just us fans throwing out opinions. I'm only speculating and recognize that I have nothing to support the take since I do not know or work with him. He very well could be a 23 year old enjoying his new found income which has contributed significantly to his bad choices. I've posted it a few times now: the dude might just be dumb as hell.
As a 65 year old with decades dealing with kids in Law Enforcement, my diagnosis of Burton is he is a lazy self-entitled knucklehead who thinks what he wants should be handed to him (in this case, playing time). Of course, I could be wrong.

you have never met the man..never spoken one word to him..of course you could be wrong..so could I..yet his work ethic has never been questioned by anyone here or at the college level...I would imagine ..in time we will find out the real story but I certainly am not going to stoop to name calling especially if Burton has some medical issues

I don't know if this is true or not, but heard he was late, showed up in his pajamas and then acted like nothing was wrong. This sent everyone scrambling to go thru the play sheet and remove the plays they had specifically put in for him. If that doesn't scream knucklehead, I don't know what does.

I am not going to go back and forth with everyone regarding Jermaine Burton..He is not what ails the Bengals this year.Yet, if for whatever reason(s) he does not get his head on straight then the team must bid a fond farewell...... But, name calling is not going to solve any problems...Joe Burrow was not mad at Burton in the third quarter..he saw this team starting to revert back to Lackadaisical effort after playing well the majority of the game. I hope he stays pissed off the remainder of the year. Lackadaisical effort lackadaisical effort

We will never know, i remember reading some teams were ready to take Mixon in 3rd round for sure if he fell. ( we made out well with Mixon) i never read much on Burton though

Nice, so you can offer professional perspective on guys like Burton and Mixon and their past actions.

I recall Mixon being more discussed as a draft prospect. Burton felt more like a surprise pick.

Let's hope that he doesn't miss the walk through again..

Quote:CINCINNATI — Bengals rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton was a healthy inactive on Sunday against the Raiders after he was a no call, no show for their Saturday walkthrough.
The Bengals play Baltimore on Thursday night in another must-win game as they try to climb their way back into the playoff mix after a 1-4 start to the season.
Are they counting on the 23-year-old to play against the Ravens?
"Yeah," head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday. "That’s what we’re going to push him toward."
Burton has two catches for 88 yards this season. He's been a healthy inactive in two games this year and clearly has some maturing to do if he's going to reach his full potential.
"It's just going to be an ongoing process with Jermaine," Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher said on Monday. "We believe that there's a world where Jermaine Burton is an excellent pro and an excellent Bengal. We're gonna continue our part to put him in position to grow into that, and then Jermaine has to do the growing. We'll keep moving forward. We know what he can offer us. I know he wants that. And so we'll take it week by week."
The Bengals are hoping to get Tee Higgins back on the field for Thursday's game. Regardless, having another field stretcher like Burton would be great.
Will he do his job and handle the little things? The Bengals believe in what they're doing to put the rookie in position to succeed.
"Tremendous resources. I’d say we go above and beyond to make sure everyone is put in the best situation," Taylor said. "I won’t get into what that all looks like. You’ll have to take my word for it that we go above and beyond to make sure everyone is put in the best place possible to succeed. We’re going to continue to do that."
The Bengals took Burton in the third round (80th overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft. The rookie has talent, but missing a simple walkthrough in unacceptable.
Time will tell if he learned his lesson. It sounds like the Bengals' coaching staff is willing to give him another chance. It's up to Burton to take advantage of the opportunity.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

I don’t understand him not caring enough to do what’s needed. Whatever work he has to do to make millions for a few years will far outweigh having a real job for many years.
