Possible Zac Taylor replacements
#21
I'm kinda intrigued with Brady if I'm being honest.... Johnson wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Was it Bill Parcells that said  "If you want to hire me to cook the dinner then I get to chose the ingredients." But the Bengals way is to ask for a full blown steak dinner and hand the head coach a bag of Aldi's frozen rice.

They simply refuse to give up total control and Goodberry is correct when he said coaches here are trying to compete in the NFL one handed because of a tight fisted front office. The list of bright eyed new young coaches will always take the Bengals HC job because it is their shot at success only to learn most doors are closed to them in Bengal land.

You're exactly on point.

And that's the reason despite B.B. praising the Brown family, he would never sign on here. Vrabel is interesting though.

Bill only takes the haircut, over market, bc he wants to prove he can win without Brady, as Brady did without him.  This is about the best possible chance to make that happen, due to burrow.

Bill doesn’t need the money, he needs to fix the narrative.

Bill solidifies himself as the GOAT, even though he already is (like Phil Jackson).  Burrow becomes his Kobe, to Brady being his Jordan.
Bill is the GOAT of cheating, hard pass.

In some circles they roll with the phrase "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'"

Best we can hope for is a new DC and OL coach.

I guess the Bengals have never tried.

Every single one of those guys has a better resume than Taylor before being hired by the Bengals.

I like the Vrabel idea. He seems like he was born to coach in the AFC North.

He managed to get a 1 seed with Ryan Tannehill as his QB.

I still doubt that Zac goes anywhere. The family despises doing the work that goes into interviewing and hiring a new staff.

People realize Vrabel is only available because Tennessee did not want him anymore, right?

Idk if this holds up anymore.  After year 1, Taylor got a couple of legitimate hauls of defensive free agents.  Many turned out to be really impactful.  Outside of a couple of odd Jackson Carman type picks, I think Taylor and co have had plenty of control over drafting as well.

Also, they rebuilt most of the o-line in FA.  They've struggled, but they've brought in what looked like solid RT veterans that just haven't stuck.  OBJ was the best OL on the market and in his prime when he came here.  That's something that you would never have seriously considered happening in the Marvin era.  I couldn't believe it when they signed him.

The final roadblocks to personnel legitimacy for this team are a scouting dept. and guaranteed money.

Yeah, you're right.

I suppose someone should have told KC that Andy Reid was only available because Philly didn't want him anymore.

I'm not big on Bellichick.  He's 72 years old and seems a bit out of touch.  I'm unsure whether or not "football at gunpoint" is what we need to fix things here.  It might actually make things worse.

My point is, it's easy to become enamored with somebody, while not taking into account someone else had him in the same position and fired him. That's why the same coaches keep getting fired and hired. If we were going to replace Taylor, I'd rather take an OC somewhere instead of someone else's cast off. I seriously don't think Reid would still be at KC without Mahomes. Just like Belicheat getting fired when he lost Brady.

Famous line by a highly respected coach. High level coaches want control. The true mafia is in Cincinnati and no one but family controls what happens.

I imagine that almost every successful coach has navigated around the rules to their benefit.

Yeah, that's one way of going about it.  The main pitfall of hiring a young OC is understanding if they can manage an entire locker room and staff or not.  Taylor is pretty good at that aspect of the job.  It might be his best attribute.  Not all young guys are going to be like that.

the media is not screaming for Taylor to be fired..certain individuals in the media are..Taylor is not going anywhere nor should he..there needs to be some changes  and fine tuning  and there will be I would imagine
